At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,
| 1 En aquel tiempo Herodes el tetrarca oyó la fama de Jesús, | 1 Zu der Zeit kam die Kunde von Jesus vor den Landesfürsten Herodes. |

And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
| 2 y dijo a sus criados: Este es Juan el Bautista; ha resucitado de los muertos, y por eso actúan en él estos poderes. | 2 Und er sprach zu seinen Leuten: Das ist Johannes der Täufer; er ist von den Toten auferstanden, darum tut er solche Taten. |

For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.
| 3 Porque Herodes había prendido a Juan, y le había encadenado y metido en la cárcel, por causa de Herodías, mujer de Felipe su hermano; | 3 Denn Herodes hatte Johannes ergriffen, gefesselt und in das Gefängnis geworfen wegen der Herodias, der Frau seines Bruders Philippus. |

For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.
| 4 porque Juan le decía: No te es lícito tenerla. | 4 Denn Johannes hatte zu ihm gesagt: Es ist nicht recht, daß du sie hast. |

And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
| 5 Y Herodes quería matarle, pero temía al pueblo; porque tenían a Juan por profeta. | 5 Und er hätte ihn gern getötet, fürchtete sich aber vor dem Volk; denn sie hielten ihn für einen Propheten. |

But when Herod's birthday was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.
| 6 Pero cuando se celebraba el cumpleaños de Herodes, la hija de Herodías danzó en medio, y agradó a Herodes, | 6 Als aber Herodes seinen Geburtstag beging, da tanzte die Tochter der Herodias vor ihnen. Das gefiel dem Herodes gut. |

Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.
| 7 por lo cual éste le prometió con juramento darle todo lo que pidiese. | 7 Darum versprach er ihr mit einem Eid, er wolle ihr geben, was sie fordern würde. |

And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger.
| 8 Ella, instruida primero por su madre, dijo: Dame aquí en un plato la cabeza de Juan el Bautista. | 8 Und wie sie zuvor von ihrer Mutter angestiftet war, sprach sie: Gib mir hier auf einer Schale das Haupt Johannes des Täufers! |

And the king was sorry: nevertheless for the oath's sake, and them which sat with him at meat, he commanded it to be given her.
| 9 Entonces el rey se entristeció; pero a causa del juramento, y de los que estaban con él a la mesa, mandó que se la diesen, | 9 Und der König wurde traurig; doch wegen des Eides und derer, die mit ihm zu Tisch saßen, befahl er, es ihr zu geben, |

And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.
| 10 y ordenó decapitar a Juan en la cárcel. | 10 und schickte hin und ließ Johannes im Gefängnis enthaupten. |

And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.
| 11 Y fue traída su cabeza en un plato, y dada a la muchacha; y ella la presentó a su madre. | 11 Und sein Haupt wurde hereingetragen auf einer Schale und dem Mädchen gegeben; und sie brachte es ihrer Mutter. |

And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.
| 12 Entonces llegaron sus discípulos, y tomaron el cuerpo y lo enterraron; y fueron y dieron las nuevas a Jesús. | 12 Da kamen seine Jünger und nahmen seinen Leichnam und begruben ihn; und sie kamen und verkündeten das Jesus. |

When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.
| 13 Oyéndolo Jesús, se apartó de allí en una barca a un lugar desierto y apartado; y cuando la gente lo oyó, le siguió a pie desde las ciudades. | 13 Als das Jesus hörte, fuhr er von dort weg in einem Boot in eine einsame Gegend allein. And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
| 14 Y saliendo Jesús, vio una gran multitud, y tuvo compasión de ellos, y sanó a los que de ellos estaban enfermos. | 14 Und Jesus stieg aus und sah die große Menge; und sie jammerten ihn, und er heilte ihre Kranken. |

And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
| 15 Cuando anochecía, se acercaron a él sus discípulos, diciendo: El lugar es desierto, y la hora ya pasada; despide a la multitud, para que vayan por las aldeas y compren de comer. | 15 Am Abend aber traten seine Jünger zu ihm und sprachen: Die Gegend ist öde, und die Nacht bricht herein; laß das Volk gehen, damit sie in die Dörfer gehen und sich zu essen kaufen. |

But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
| 16 Jesús les dijo: No tienen necesidad de irse; dadles vosotros de comer. | 16 Aber Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Es ist nicht nötig, daß sie fortgehen; gebt ihr ihnen zu essen. |

And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
| 17 Y ellos dijeron: No tenemos aquí sino cinco panes y dos peces. | 17 Sie sprachen zu ihm: Wir haben hier nichts als fünf Brote und zwei Fische. |

He said, Bring them hither to me.
| 18 El les dijo: Traédmelos acá. | 18 Und er sprach: Bringt sie mir her! |

And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
| 19 Entonces mandó a la gente recostarse sobre la hierba; y tomando los cinco panes y los dos peces, y levantando los ojos al cielo, bendijo, y partió y dio los panes a los discípulos, y los discípulos a la multitud. | 19 Und er ließ das Volk sich auf das Gras lagern und nahm die fünf Brote und die zwei Fische, sah auf zum Himmel, dankte und brach's und gab die Brote den Jüngern, und die Jünger gaben sie dem Volk. |

And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
| 20 Y comieron todos, y se saciaron; y recogieron lo que sobró de los pedazos, doce cestas llenas. | 20 Und sie aßen alle und wurden satt und sammelten auf, was an Brocken übrigblieb, zwölf Körbe voll. |

And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.
| 21 Y los que comieron fueron como cinco mil hombres, sin contar las mujeres y los niños. | 21 Die aber gegessen hatten, waren etwa fünftausend Mann, ohne Frauen und Kinder. |

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
| 22 En seguida Jesús hizo a sus discípulos entrar en la barca e ir delante de él a la otra ribera, entre tanto que él despedía a la multitud. | 22 Und alsbald trieb Jesus seine Jünger, in das Boot zu steigen und vor ihm hinüberzufahren, bis er das Volk gehen ließe. |

And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
| 23 Despedida la multitud, subió al monte a orar aparte; y cuando llegó la noche, estaba allí solo. | 23 Und als er das Volk hatte gehen lassen, stieg er allein auf einen Berg, um zu beten. Und am Abend war er dort allein. |

But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
| 24 Y ya la barca estaba en medio del mar, azotada por las olas; porque el viento era contrario. | 24 Und das Boot war schon weit vom Land entfernt und kam in Not durch die Wellen; denn der Wind stand ihm entgegen. |

And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
| 25 Mas a la cuarta vigilia de la noche, Jesús vino a ellos andando sobre el mar. | 25 Aber in der vierten Nachtwache kam Jesus zu ihnen und ging auf dem See. |

And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
| 26 Y los discípulos, viéndole andar sobre el mar, se turbaron, diciendo: ¡Un fantasma! Y dieron voces de miedo. | 26 Und als ihn die Jünger sahen auf dem See gehen, erschraken sie und riefen: Es ist ein Gespenst! und schrien vor Furcht. |

But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
| 27 Pero en seguida Jesús les habló, diciendo: ¡Tened ánimo; yo soy, no temáis! | 27 Aber sogleich redete Jesus mit ihnen und sprach: Seid getrost, ich bin's; fürchtet euch nicht! |

And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
| 28 Entonces le respondió Pedro, y dijo: Señor, si eres tú, manda que yo vaya a ti sobre las aguas. | 28 Petrus aber antwortete ihm und sprach: Herr, bist du es, so befiehl mir, zu dir zu kommen auf dem Wasser. |

And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
| 29 Y él dijo: Ven. Y descendiendo Pedro de la barca, andaba sobre las aguas para ir a Jesús. | 29 Und er sprach: Komm her! Und Petrus stieg aus dem Boot und ging auf dem Wasser und kam auf Jesus zu. |

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
| 30 Pero al ver el fuerte viento, tuvo miedo; y comenzando a hundirse, dio voces, diciendo: ¡Señor, sálvame! | 30 Als er aber den starken Wind sah, erschrak er und begann zu sinken und schrie: Herr, hilf mir! |

And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
| 31 Al momento Jesús, extendiendo la mano, asió de él, y le dijo: ¡Hombre de poca fe! ¿Por qué dudaste? | 31 Jesus aber streckte sogleich die Hand aus und ergriff ihn und sprach zu ihm: Du Kleingläubiger, warum hast du gezweifelt? |

And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
| 32 Y cuando ellos subieron en la barca, se calmó el viento. | 32 Und sie traten in das Boot, und der Wind legte sich. |

Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
| 33 Entonces los que estaban en la barca vinieron y le adoraron, diciendo: Verdaderamente eres Hijo de Dios. | 33 Die aber im Boot waren, fielen vor ihm nieder und sprachen: Du bist wahrhaftig Gottes Sohn! |

And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.
| 34 Y terminada la travesía, vinieron a tierra de Genesaret. | 34 Und sie fuhren hinüber und kamen ans Land in Genezareth. |

And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;
| 35 Cuando le conocieron los hombres de aquel lugar, enviaron noticia por toda aquella tierra alrededor, y trajeron a él todos los enfermos; | 35 Und als die Leute an diesem Ort ihn erkannten, schickten sie Botschaft ringsum in das ganze Land und brachten alle Kranken zu ihm |

And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his garment: and as many as touched were made perfectly whole. | 36 y le rogaban que les dejase tocar solamente el borde de su manto; y todos los que lo tocaron, quedaron sanos. | 36 und baten ihn, daß sie nur den Saum seines Gewandes berühren dürften. Und alle, die ihn berührten, wurden gesund. |
