And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.
| 1 Cuando Jesús terminó de dar instrucciones a sus doce discípulos, se fue de allí a enseñar y a predicar en las ciudades de ellos. | 1 Und es begab sich, als Jesus diese Gebote an seine zwölf Jünger beendet hatte, daß er von dort weiterging, um in ihren Städten zu lehren und zu predigen. |

Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
| 2 Y al oír Juan, en la cárcel, los hechos de Cristo, le envió dos de sus discípulos, | 2 Als aber Johannes im Gefängnis von den Werken Christi hörte, sandte er seine Jünger |

And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?
| 3 para preguntarle: ¿Eres tú aquel que había de venir, o esperaremos a otro? | 3 und ließ ihn fragen: Bist du es, der da kommen soll, oder sollen wir auf einen andern warten? |

Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
| 4 Respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Id, y haced saber a Juan las cosas que oís y veis. | 4 Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Geht hin und sagt Johannes wieder, was ihr hört und seht: |

The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
| 5 Los ciegos ven, los cojos andan, los leprosos son limpiados, los sordos oyen, los muertos son resucitados, y a los pobres es anunciado el evangelio; | 5 Blinde sehen und Lahme gehen, Aussätzige werden rein und Taube hören, Tote stehen auf, und Armen wird das Evangelium gepredigt; |

And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
| 6 y bienaventurado es el que no halle tropiezo en mí. | 6 und selig ist, wer sich nicht an mir ärgert. |

And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?
| 7 Mientras ellos se iban, comenzó Jesús a decir de Juan a la gente: ¿Qué salisteis a ver al desierto? ¿Una caña sacudida por el viento? | 7 Als sie fortgingen, fing Jesus an, zu dem Volk von Johannes zu reden: Was seid ihr hinausgegangen in die Wüste zu sehen? Wolltet ihr ein Rohr sehen, das der Wind hin und her weht? |

But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.
| 8 ¿O qué salisteis a ver? ¿A un hombre cubierto de vestiduras delicadas? He aquí, los que llevan vestiduras delicadas, en las casas de los reyes están. | 8 Oder was seid ihr hinausgegangen zu sehen? Wolltet ihr einen Menschen in weichen Kleidern sehen? Siehe, die weiche Kleider tragen, sind in den Häusern der Könige. |

But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.
| 9 Pero ¿qué salisteis a ver? ¿A un profeta? Sí, os digo, y más que profeta. | 9 Oder was seid ihr hinausgegangen zu sehen? Wolltet ihr einen Propheten sehen? Ja, ich sage euch: er ist mehr als ein Prophet. |

For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
| 10 Porque éste es de quien está escrito:
He aquí, yo envío mi mensajero delante de tu faz,
El cual preparará tu camino delante de ti. | 10 Dieser ist's, von dem geschrieben steht (Maleachi 3,1): "Siehe, ich sende meinen Boten vor dir her, der deinen Weg vor dir bereiten soll." |

Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
| 11 De cierto os digo: Entre los que nacen de mujer no se ha levantado otro mayor que Juan el Bautista; pero el más pequeño en el reino de los cielos, mayor es que él. | 11 Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Unter allen, die von einer Frau geboren sind, ist keiner aufgetreten, der größer ist als Johannes der Täufer; der aber der Kleinste ist im Himmelreich, ist größer als er. |

And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
| 12 Desde los días de Juan el Bautista hasta ahora, el reino de los cielos sufre violencia, y los violentos lo arrebatan. | 12 Aber von den Tagen Johannes des Täufers bis heute leidet das Himmelreich Gewalt, und die Gewalttätigen reißen es an sich. |

For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
| 13 Porque todos los profetas y la ley profetizaron hasta Juan. | 13 Denn alle Propheten und das Gesetz haben geweissagt bis hin zu Johannes; |

And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.
| 14 Y si queréis recibirlo, él es aquel Elías que había de venir. | 14 und wenn ihr's annehmen wollt: er ist Elia, der da kommen soll. |

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
| 15 El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga. | 15 Wer Ohren hat, der höre! |

But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,
| 16 Mas ¿a qué compararé esta generación? Es semejante a los muchachos que se sientan en las plazas, y dan voces a sus compañeros, | 16 Mit wem soll ich aber dieses Geschlecht vergleichen? Es gleicht den Kindern, die auf dem Markt sitzen und rufen den andern zu: |

And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.
| 17 diciendo: Os tocamos flauta, y no bailasteis; os endechamos, y no lamentasteis. | 17 Wir haben euch aufgespielt, und ihr wolltet nicht tanzen; wir haben Klagelieder gesungen, und ihr wolltet nicht weinen. |

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
| 18 Porque vino Juan, que ni comía ni bebía, y dicen: Demonio tiene. | 18 Johannes ist gekommen, aß nicht und trank nicht; so sagen sie: Er ist besessen. |

The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
| 19 Vino el Hijo del Hombre, que come y bebe, y dicen: He aquí un hombre comilón, y bebedor de vino, amigo de publicanos y de pecadores. Pero la sabiduría es justificada por sus hijos. | 19 Der Menschensohn ist gekommen, ißt und trinkt; so sagen sie: Siehe, was ist dieser Mensch für ein Fresser und Weinsäufer, ein Freund der Zöllner und Sünder! Und doch ist die Weisheit gerechtfertigt worden aus ihren Werken. |

Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:
| 20 Entonces comenzó a reconvenir a las ciudades en las cuales había hecho muchos de sus milagros, porque no se habían arrepentido, | 20 Da fing er an, die Städte zu schelten, in denen die meisten seiner Taten geschehen waren; denn sie hatten nicht Buße getan: |

Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.
| 21 Ay de ti, Corazín! Ay de ti, Betsaida! Porque si en Tiro y en Sidón se hubieran hecho los milagros que han sido hechos en vosotras, tiempo ha que se hubieran arrepentido en cilicio y en ceniza. | 21 Wehe dir, Chorazin! Weh dir, Betsaida! Wären solche Taten in Tyrus und Sidon geschehen, wie sie bei euch geschehen sind, sie hätten längst in Sack und Asche Buße getan. |

But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.
| 22 Por tanto os digo que en el día del juicio, será más tolerable el castigo para Tiro y para Sidón, que para vosotras. | 22 Doch ich sage euch: Es wird Tyrus und Sidon erträglicher ergehen am Tage des Gerichts als euch. |

And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
| 23 Y tú, Capernaum, que eres levantada hasta el cielo, hasta el Hades serás abatida; porque si en Sodoma se hubieran hecho los milagros que han sido hechos en ti, habría permanecido hasta el día de hoy. | 23 Und du, Kapernaum, wirst du bis zum Himmel erhoben werden? Du wirst bis in die Hölle hinuntergestoßen werden. Denn wenn in Sodom die Taten geschehen wären, die in dir geschehen sind, es stünde noch heutigen Tages. |

But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
| 24 Por tanto os digo que en el día del juicio, será más tolerable el castigo para la tierra de Sodoma, que para ti. | 24 Doch ich sage euch: Es wird dem Land der Sodomer erträglicher ergehen am Tage des Gerichts als dir. |

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
| 25 En aquel tiempo, respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque escondiste estas cosas de los sabios y de los entendidos, y las revelaste a los niños. | 25 Zu der Zeit fing Jesus an und sprach: Ich preise dich, Vater, Herr des Himmels und der Erde, weil du dies den Weisen und Klugen verborgen hast und hast es den Unmündigen offenbart. |

Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
| 26 Sí, Padre, porque así te agradó. | 26 Ja, Vater; denn so hat es dir wohlgefallen. |

All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
| 27 Todas las cosas me fueron entregadas por mi Padre; y nadie conoce al Hijo, sino el Padre, ni al Padre conoce alguno, sino el Hijo, y aquel a quien el Hijo lo quiera revelar. | 27 Alles ist mir übergeben von meinem Vater; und niemand kennt den Sohn als nur der Vater; und niemand kennt den Vater als nur der Sohn und wem es der Sohn offenbaren will. |

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
| 28 Venid a mí todos los que estáis trabajados y cargados, y yo os haré descansar. | 28 Kommt her zu mir, alle, die ihr mühselig und beladen seid; ich will euch erquicken. |

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
| 29 Llevad mi yugo sobre vosotros, y aprended de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas; | 29 Nehmt auf euch mein Joch und lernt von mir; denn ich bin sanftmütig und von Herzen demütig; so werdet ihr Ruhe finden für eure Seelen. |

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. | 30 porque mi yugo es fácil, y ligera mi carga. | 30 Denn mein Joch ist sanft, und meine Last ist leicht. |
