In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known.
| 2 Porque nada hay encubierto, que no haya de descubrirse; ni oculto, que no haya de saberse. | 2 Es ist aber nichts verborgen, was nicht offenbar wird, und nichts geheim, was man nicht wissen wird. |

Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.

But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
| 11 Cuando os trajeren a las sinagogas, y ante los magistrados y las autoridades, no os preocupéis por cómo o qué habréis de responder, o qué habréis de decir; | 11 Wenn sie euch aber führen werden in die Synagogen und vor die Machthaber und die Obrigkeit, so sorgt nicht, wie oder womit ihr euch verantworten oder was ihr sagen sollt; |

For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.
| 12 porque el Espíritu Santo os enseñará en la misma hora lo que debáis decir. | 12 denn der heilige Geist wird euch in dieser Stunde lehren, was ihr sagen sollt. |

And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
| 13 Le dijo uno de la multitud: Maestro, di a mi hermano que parta conmigo la herencia. | 13 Es sprach aber einer aus dem Volk zu ihm: Meister, sage meinem Bruder, daß er mit mir das Erbe teile. |

And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
| 14 Mas él le dijo: Hombre, ¿quién me ha puesto sobre vosotros como juez o partidor? | 14 Er aber sprach zu ihm: Mensch, wer hat mich zum Richter oder Erbschlichter über euch gesetzt? |

And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:

And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?

And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.

And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.

But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?

So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.

Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit?
| 25 ¿Y quién de vosotros podrá con afanarse añadir a su estatura un codo? | 25 Wer ist unter euch, der, wie sehr er sich auch darum sorgt, seines Lebens Länge eine Spanne zusetzen könnte? |

If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?
| 26 Pues si no podéis ni aun lo que es menos, ¿por qué os afanáis por lo demás? | 26 Wenn ihr nun auch das Geringste nicht vermögt, warum sorgt ihr euch um das andre? |

Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
| 27 Considerad los lirios, cómo crecen; no trabajan, ni hilan; mas os digo, que ni aun Salomón con toda su gloria se vistió como uno de ellos. | 27 Seht die Lilien an, wie sie wachsen: sie spinnen nicht, sie weben nicht. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
| 28 Y si así viste Dios la hierba que hoy está en el campo, y mañana es echada al horno, ¿cuánto más a vosotros, hombres de poca fe? | 28 Wenn nun Gott das Gras, das heute auf dem Feld steht und morgen in den Ofen geworfen wird, so kleidet, wieviel mehr wird er euch kleiden, ihr Kleingläubigen! |

And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
| 29 Vosotros, pues, no os preocupéis por lo que habéis de comer, ni por lo que habéis de beber, ni estéis en ansiosa inquietud. | 29 Darum auch ihr, fragt nicht danach, was ihr essen oder was ihr trinken sollt, und macht euch keine Unruhe. |

For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.
| 30 Porque todas estas cosas buscan las gentes del mundo; pero vuestro Padre sabe que tenéis necesidad de estas cosas. | 30 Nach dem allen trachten die Heiden in der Welt; aber euer Vater weiß, daß ihr dessen bedürft. |

But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
| 31 Mas buscad el reino de Dios, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas. | 31 Trachtet vielmehr nach seinem Reich, so wird euch das alles zufallen. |

Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
| 32 No temáis, manada pequeña, porque a vuestro Padre le ha placido daros el reino. | 32 Fürchte dich nicht, du kleine Herde! Denn es hat eurem Vater wohlgefallen, euch das Reich zu geben. |

Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.
| 33 Vended lo que poseéis, y dad limosna; haceos bolsas que no se envejezcan, tesoro en los cielos que no se agote, donde ladrón no llega, ni polilla destruye. | 33 Verkauft, was ihr habt, und gebt Almosen. Macht euch Geldbeutel, die nicht veralten, einen Schatz, der niemals abnimmt, im Himmel, wo kein Dieb hinkommt und den keine Motten fressen. |

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;

And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.

Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.
| 37 Bienaventurados aquellos siervos a los cuales su señor, cuando venga, halle velando; de cierto os digo que se ceñirá, y hará que se sienten a la mesa, y vendrá a servirles. | 37 Selig sind die Knechte, die der Herr, wenn er kommt, wachend findet. And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.

Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.

Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest thou this parable unto us, or even to all?

And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?

Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.

But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken;
| 45 Mas si aquel siervo dijere en su corazón: Mi señor tarda en venir; y comenzare a golpear a los criados y a las criadas, y a comer y beber y embriagarse, | 45 Wenn aber jener Knecht in seinem Herzen sagt: Mein Herr kommt noch lange nicht, und fängt an, die Knechte und Mägde zu schlagen, auch zu essen und zu trinken und sich vollzusaufen, |

The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.
| 46 vendrá el señor de aquel siervo en día que éste no espera, y a la hora que no sabe, y le castigará duramente, y le pondrá con los infieles. | 46 dann wird der Herr dieses Knechtes kommen an einem Tage, an dem er's nicht erwartet, und zu einer Stunde, die er nicht kennt, und wird ihn in Stücke hauen lassen und wird ihm sein Teil geben bei den Ungläubigen. |

And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
| 47 Aquel siervo que conociendo la voluntad de su señor, no se preparó, ni hizo conforme a su voluntad, recibirá muchos azotes. | 47 Der Knecht aber, der den Willen seines Herrn kennt, hat aber nichts vorbereitet noch nach seinem Willen getan, der wird viel Schläge erleiden müssen. |

But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.
| 48 Mas el que sin conocerla hizo cosas dignas de azotes, será azotado poco; porque a todo aquel a quien se haya dado mucho, mucho se le demandará; y al que mucho se le haya confiado, más se le pedirá.
Jesús, | 48 Wer ihn aber nicht kennt und getan hat, was Schläge verdient, wird wenig Schläge erleiden. Denn wem viel gegeben ist, bei dem wird man viel suchen; und wem viel anvertraut ist, von dem wird man um so mehr fordern. |

I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?

But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!

Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.
| 52 Porque de aquí en adelante, cinco en una familia estarán divididos, tres contra dos, y dos contra tres. | 52 Denn von nun an werden fünf in einem Hause uneins sein, drei gegen zwei und zwei gegen drei. |

The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
| 53 Estará dividido el padre contra el hijo, y el hijo contra el padre; la madre contra la hija, y la hija contra la madre; la suegra contra su nuera, y la nuera contra su suegra.
¿Cómo no reconocéis este tiempo? | 53 Es wird der Vater gegen den Sohn sein und der Sohn gegen den Vater, die Mutter gegen die Tochter und die Tochter gegen die Mutter, die Schwiegermutter gegen die Schwiegertochter und die Schwiegertochter gegen die Schwiegermutter. |

And he said also to the people, When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, There cometh a shower; and so it is.
| 54 Decía también a la multitud: Cuando veis la nube que sale del poniente, luego decís: Agua viene; y así sucede. | 54 Er sprach aber zu der Menge: Wenn ihr eine Wolke aufsteigen seht vom Westen her, so sagt ihr gleich: Es gibt Regen. Und es geschieht so. |

And when ye see the south wind blow, ye say, There will be heat; and it cometh to pass.

Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time?
| 56 ¡Hipócritas! Sabéis distinguir el aspecto del cielo y de la tierra; ¿y cómo no distinguís este tiempo? | 56 Ihr Heuchler! Über das Aussehen der Erde und des Himmels könnt ihr urteilen; warum aber könnt ihr über diese Zeit nicht urteilen? |

Yea, and why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?

When thou goest with thine adversary to the magistrate, as thou art in the way, give diligence that thou mayest be delivered from him; lest he hale thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and the officer cast thee into prison.
| 58 Cuando vayas al magistrado con tu adversario, procura en el camino arreglarte con él, no sea que te arrastre al juez, y el juez te entregue al alguacil, y el alguacil te meta en la cárcel. | 58 Denn wenn du mit deinem Gegner zum Gericht gehst, so bemühe dich auf dem Wege, von ihm loszukommen, damit er nicht etwa dich vor den Richter ziehe, und der Richter überantworte dich dem Gerichtsdiener, und der Gerichtsdiener werfe dich ins Gefängnis. |

I tell thee, thou shalt not depart thence, till thou hast paid the very last mite. | 59 Te digo que no saldrás de allí, hasta que hayas pagado aun la última blanca. | 59 Ich sage dir: Du wirst von dort nicht herauskommen, bis du den allerletzten Heller bezahlt hast. |
