Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah.
| 1 Jefté galaadita era esforzado y valeroso; era hijo de una mujer ramera, y el padre de Jefté era Galaad. | 1 Jeftah, ein Gileaditer, war ein streitbarer Mann, aber der Sohn einer Hure. Gilead hatte Jeftah gezeugt. |

And Gilead's wife bare him sons; and his wife's sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father's house; for thou art the son of a strange woman.
| 2 Pero la mujer de Galaad le dio hijos, los cuales, cuando crecieron, echaron fuera a Jefté, diciéndole: No heredarás en la casa de nuestro padre, porque eres hijo de otra mujer. | 2 Als aber die Ehefrau Gileads ihm Söhne gebar und die Söhne dieser Frau groß wurden, stießen sie Jeftah aus und sprachen zu ihm: Du sollst nicht erben in unserer Familie, denn du bist der Sohn einer andern. |

Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him.

And it came to pass in process of time, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel.

And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob:
| 5 Y cuando los hijos de Amón hicieron guerra contra Israel, los ancianos de Galaad fueron a traer a Jefté de la tierra de Tob; | 5 Als nun die Ammoniter mit Israel kämpften, gingen die Ältesten von Gilead hin, um Jeftah aus dem Lande Tob zu holen, |

And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.
| 6 y dijeron a Jefté: Ven, y serás nuestro jefe, para que peleemos contra los hijos de Amón. | 6 und sprachen zu ihm: Komm und sei unser Hauptmann, damit wir gegen die Ammoniter kämpfen. |

And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expel me out of my father's house? and why are ye come unto me now when ye are in distress?
| 7 Jefté respondió a los ancianos de Galaad: ¿No me aborrecisteis vosotros, y me echasteis de la casa de mi padre? ¿Por qué, pues, venís ahora a mí cuando estáis en aflicción? | 7 Aber Jeftah sprach zu den Ältesten von Gilead: Seid ihr es nicht, die mich hassen und aus meiner Familie ausgestoßen haben? Und nun kommt ihr zu mir, weil ihr in Bedrängnis seid? |

And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, Therefore we turn again to thee now, that thou mayest go with us, and fight against the children of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
| 8 Y los ancianos de Galaad respondieron a Jefté: Por esta misma causa volvemos ahora a ti, para que vengas con nosotros y pelees contra los hijos de Amón, y seas caudillo de todos los que moramos en Galaad. | 8 Die Ältesten von Gilead sprachen zu Jeftah: Darum kommen wir nun wieder zu dir, damit du mit uns ziehst und uns hilfst, gegen die Ammoniter zu kämpfen, und unser Haupt seist über alle, die in Gilead wohnen. |

And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home again to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your head?
| 9 Jefté entonces dijo a los ancianos de Galaad: Si me hacéis volver para que pelee contra los hijos de Amón, y Jehová los entregare delante de mí, ¿seré yo vuestro caudillo? | 9 Jeftah sprach zu den Ältesten von Gilead: Wenn ihr mich wieder holt, um gegen die Ammoniter zu kämpfen, und der HERR sie mir in die Hand gibt, soll ich dann euer Haupt sein? |

And the elders of Gilead said unto Jephthah, The LORD be witness between us, if we do not so according to thy words.
| 10 Y los ancianos de Galaad respondieron a Jefté: Jehová sea testigo entre nosotros, si no hiciéremos como tú dices. | 10 Die Ältesten von Gilead sprachen zu Jeftah: Der HERR sei Ohrenzeuge zwischen uns und strafe uns, wenn wir nicht tun, wie du gesagt hast. |

Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.
| 11 Entonces Jefté vino con los ancianos de Galaad, y el pueblo lo eligió por su caudillo y jefe; y Jefté habló todas sus palabras delante de Jehová en Mizpa. | 11 So ging Jeftah mit den Ältesten von Gilead, und das Volk setzte ihn zum Haupt und Obersten über sich. Und Jeftah redete alles, was er zu sagen hatte, vor dem HERRN in Mizpa. |

And Jephthah sent messengers unto the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What hast thou to do with me, that thou art come against me to fight in my land?
| 12 Y envió Jefté mensajeros al rey de los amonitas, diciendo: ¿Qué tienes tú conmigo, que has venido a mí para hacer guerra contra mi tierra? | 12 Dann sandte Jeftah Botschaft zum König der Ammoniter und ließ ihm sagen: Was hast du mit mir zu schaffen, daß du zu mir kommst, um gegen mein Land zu kämpfen? |

And the king of the children of Ammon answered unto the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and unto Jordan: now therefore restore those lands again peaceably.
| 13 El rey de los amonitas respondió a los mensajeros de Jefté: Por cuanto Israel tomó mi tierra, cuando subió de Egipto, desde Arnón hasta Jaboc y el Jordán; ahora, pues, devuélvela en paz. | 13 Der König der Ammoniter antwortete den Boten Jeftahs: Weil Israel mein Land genommen hat, als sie aus Ägypten zogen, vom Arnon an bis an den Jabbok und bis an den Jordan, so gib mir's nun gutwillig zurück. |

And Jephthah sent messengers again unto the king of the children of Ammon:
| 14 Y Jefté volvió a enviar otros mensajeros al rey de los amonitas, | 14 Jeftah aber sandte abermals Boten zum König der Ammoniter; |

And said unto him, Thus saith Jephthah, Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon:
| 15 para decirle: Jefté ha dicho así: Israel no tomó tierra de Moab, ni tierra de los hijos de Amón. | 15 die sprachen zu ihm: So spricht Jeftah: Israel hat kein Land genommen, weder den Moabitern noch den Ammonitern. |

But when Israel came up from Egypt, and walked through the wilderness unto the Red sea, and came to Kadesh;
| 16 Porque cuando Israel subió de Egipto, anduvo por el desierto hasta el Mar Rojo, y llegó a Cades. | 16 Denn als sie aus Ägypten heraufkamen, zog Israel durch die Wüste bis ans Schilfmeer und kam nach Kadesch. |

Then Israel sent messengers unto the king of Edom, saying, Let me, I pray thee, pass through thy land: but the king of Edom would not hearken thereto. And in like manner they sent unto the king of Moab: but he would not consent: and Israel abode in Kadesh.
| 17 Entonces Israel envió mensajeros al rey de Edom, diciendo: Yo te ruego que me dejes pasar por tu tierra; pero el rey de Edom no los escuchó. Envió también al rey de Moab, el cual tampoco quiso; se quedó, por tanto, Israel en Cades. | 17 Da sandte Israel Boten zum König der Edomiter und sprach: Laß mich durch dein Land ziehen. Aber der König der Edomiter hörte nicht auf sie. Auch sandten sie zum König der Moabiter; der wollte auch nicht. So blieb Israel in Kadesch |

Then they went along through the wilderness, and compassed the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, but came not within the border of Moab: for Arnon was the border of Moab.
| 18 Después, yendo por el desierto, rodeó la tierra de Edom y la tierra de Moab, y viniendo por el lado oriental de la tierra de Moab, acampó al otro lado de Arnón, y no entró en territorio de Moab; porque Arnón es territorio de Moab. | 18 und zog in der Wüste umher. Und sie umgingen das Land der Edomiter und Moabiter und kamen von Sonnenaufgang her an das Land der Moabiter und lagerten sich jenseits des Arnon, aber sie kamen nicht ins Gebiet der Moabiter; denn der Arnon ist die Grenze von Moab. |

And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said unto him, Let us pass, we pray thee, through thy land into my place.
| 19 Y envió Israel mensajeros a Sehón rey de los amorreos, rey de Hesbón, diciéndole: Te ruego que me dejes pasar por tu tierra hasta mi lugar. | 19 Und Israel sandte Boten zu Sihon, dem König der Amoriter zu Heschbon, und ließ ihm sagen: Laß uns durch dein Land ziehen bis an unsern Ort. |

But Sihon trusted not Israel to pass through his coast: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and pitched in Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
| 20 Mas Sehón no se fio de Israel para darle paso por su territorio, sino que reuniendo Sehón toda su gente, acampó en Jahaza, y peleó contra Israel. | 20 Aber Sihon traute Israel nicht und ließ es nicht durch sein Gebiet ziehen, sondern versammelte sein ganzes Kriegsvolk und lagerte sich bei Jahaz und kämpfte mit Israel. |

And the LORD God of Israel delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they smote them: so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country.
| 21 Pero Jehová Dios de Israel entregó a Sehón y a todo su pueblo en mano de Israel, y los derrotó; y se apoderó Israel de toda la tierra de los amorreos que habitaban en aquel país. | 21 Der HERR aber, der Gott Israels, gab Sihon mit seinem ganzen Kriegsvolk in die Hände Israels, und sie erschlugen sie. So nahm Israel das ganze Land der Amoriter ein, die in jenem Land wohnten. |

And they possessed all the coasts of the Amorites, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and from the wilderness even unto Jordan.
| 22 Se apoderaron también de todo el territorio del amorreo desde Arnón hasta Jaboc, y desde el desierto hasta el Jordán. | 22 Sie nahmen das ganze Gebiet der Amoriter ein vom Arnon bis an den Jabbok und von der Wüste bis an den Jordan. |

So now the LORD God of Israel hath dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, and shouldest thou possess it?
| 23 Así que, lo que Jehová Dios de Israel desposeyó al amorreo delante de su pueblo Israel, ¿pretendes tú apoderarte de él? | 23 So hat nun der HERR, der Gott Israels, die Amoriter vertrieben vor seinem Volk Israel, und du willst ihr Land einnehmen? |

Wilt not thou possess that which Chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess? So whomsoever the LORD our God shall drive out from before us, them will we possess.
| 24 Lo que te hiciere poseer Quemos tu dios, ¿no lo poseerías tú? Así, todo lo que desposeyó Jehová nuestro Dios delante de nosotros, nosotros lo poseeremos. | 24 Du solltest das Land derer einnehmen, die dein Gott Kemosch vertreibt, uns dagegen das Land derer einnehmen lassen, die der HERR, unser Gott, vor uns vertrieben hat. |

And now art thou any thing better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them,
| 25 ¿Eres tú ahora mejor en algo que Balac hijo de Zipor, rey de Moab? ¿Tuvo él cuestión contra Israel, o hizo guerra contra ellos? | 25 Meinst du, daß du ein besseres Recht hättest als Balak, der Sohn Zippors, der König der Moabiter? Hat dieser auch je mit Israel gerechtet oder gekämpft, |

While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and her towns, and in Aroer and her towns, and in all the cities that be along by the coasts of Arnon, three hundred years? why therefore did ye not recover them within that time?
| 26 Cuando Israel ha estado habitando por trescientos años a Hesbón y sus aldeas, a Aroer y sus aldeas, y todas las ciudades que están en el territorio de Arnón, ¿por qué no las habéis recobrado en ese tiempo? | 26 obwohl Israel dreihundert Jahre gewohnt hat in Heschbon und in Aroër und ihren Ortschaften und in allen Städten, die am Arnon liegen? Warum habt ihr sie nicht mit Gewalt genommen in dieser Zeit? |

Wherefore I have not sinned against thee, but thou doest me wrong to war against me: the LORD the Judge be judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.
| 27 Así que, yo nada he pecado contra ti, mas tú haces mal conmigo peleando contra mí. Jehová, que es el juez, juzgue hoy entre los hijos de Israel y los hijos de Amón. | 27 Ich habe mich nicht an dir versündigt, du aber tust so Böses an mir, daß du mit mir kämpfst. Der HERR, der da Richter ist, richte heute zwischen Israel und den Ammonitern. |

Howbeit the king of the children of Ammon hearkened not unto the words of Jephthah which he sent him.
| 28 Mas el rey de los hijos de Amón no atendió a las razones que Jefté le envió. | 28 Aber der König der Ammoniter hörte nicht auf die Worte Jeftahs, die er ihm sagen ließ. |

Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon.
| 29 Y el Espíritu de Jehová vino sobre Jefté; y pasó por Galaad y Manasés, y de allí pasó a Mizpa de Galaad, y de Mizpa de Galaad pasó a los hijos de Amón. | 29 Da kam der Geist des HERRN auf Jeftah, und er zog durch Gilead und Manasse und nach Mizpe, das in Gilead liegt, und von Mizpe, das in Gilead liegt, gegen die Ammoniter. |

And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands,
| 30 Y Jefté hizo voto a Jehová, diciendo: Si entregares a los amonitas en mis manos, | 30 Und Jeftah gelobte dem HERRN ein Gelübde und sprach: Gibst du die Ammoniter in meine Hand, |

Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD's, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering.
| 31 cualquiera que saliere de las puertas de mi casa a recibirme, cuando regrese victorioso de los amonitas, será de Jehová, y lo ofreceré en holocausto. | 31 so soll, was mir aus meiner Haustür entgegengeht, wenn ich von den Ammonitern heil zurückkomme, dem HERRN gehören, und ich will's als Brandopfer darbringen. |

So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.
| 32 Y fue Jefté hacia los hijos de Amón para pelear contra ellos; y Jehová los entregó en su mano. | 32 So zog Jeftah auf die Ammoniter los, um gegen sie zu kämpfen. Und der HERR gab sie in seine Hände. |

And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.
| 33 Y desde Aroer hasta llegar a Minit, veinte ciudades, y hasta la vega de las viñas, los derrotó con muy grande estrago. Así fueron sometidos los amonitas por los hijos de Israel. | 33 Und er schlug sie mit gewaltigen Schlägen von Aroër an bis hin nach Minnit, zwanzig Städte, und bis nach Abel-Keramim. So wurden die Ammoniter gedemütigt vor den Israeliten. |

And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter.
| 34 Entonces volvió Jefté a Mizpa, a su casa; y he aquí su hija que salía a recibirle con panderos y danzas, y ella era sola, su hija única; no tenía fuera de ella hijo ni hija. | 34 Als nun Jeftah nach Mizpa zu seinem Hause kam, siehe, da geht seine Tochter heraus ihm entgegen mit Pauken und Reigen; und sie war sein einziges Kind, und er hatte sonst keinen Sohn und keine Tochter. |

And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the LORD, and I cannot go back.
| 35 Y cuando él la vio, rompió sus vestidos, diciendo: ¡Ay, hija mía! en verdad me has abatido, y tú misma has venido a ser causa de mi dolor; porque le he dado palabra a Jehová, y no podré retractarme. | 35 Und als er sie sah, zerriß er seine Kleider und sprach: Ach, meine Tochter, wie beugst du mich und betrübst mich! Denn ich habe meinen Mund aufgetan vor dem HERRN und kann's nicht widerrufen. |

And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the LORD, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the LORD hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of the children of Ammon.
| 36 Ella entonces le respondió: Padre mío, si le has dado palabra a Jehová, haz de mí conforme a lo que prometiste, ya que Jehová ha hecho venganza en tus enemigos los hijos de Amón. | 36 Sie aber sprach: Mein Vater, hast du deinen Mund aufgetan vor dem HERRN, so tu mit mir, wie dein Mund geredet hat, nachdem der HERR dich gerächt hat an deinen Feinden, den Ammonitern. |

And she said unto her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and bewail my virginity, I and my fellows.
| 37 Y volvió a decir a su padre: Concédeme esto: déjame por dos meses que vaya y descienda por los montes, y llore mi virginidad, yo y mis compañeras. | 37 Und sie sprach zu ihrem Vater: Du wollest mir das gewähren: Laß mir zwei Monate, daß ich hingehe auf die Berge und meine Jungfrauschaft beweine mit meinen Gespielen. |

And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity upon the mountains.
| 38 El entonces dijo: Ve. Y la dejó por dos meses. Y ella fue con sus compañeras, y lloró su virginidad por los montes. | 38 Er sprach: Geh hin! und ließ sie zwei Monate gehen. Da ging sie hin mit ihren Gespielen und beweinte ihre Jungfrauschaft auf den Bergen. |

And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel,
| 39 Pasados los dos meses volvió a su padre, quien hizo de ella conforme al voto que había hecho. Y ella nunca conoció varón. | 39 Und nach zwei Monaten kam sie zurück zu ihrem Vater. Und er tat ihr, wie er gelobt hatte, und sie hatte nie einen Mann erkannt. Und es ward Brauch in Israel, |

That the daughters of Israel went yearly to lament the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year. | 40 Y se hizo costumbre en Israel, que de año en año fueran las doncellas de Israel a endechar a la hija de Jefté galaadita, cuatro días en el año. | 40 daß die Töchter Israel jährlich hingehen, zu klagen um die Tochter Jeftahs, des Gileaditers, vier Tage im Jahr. |
