Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.

Behold, I am according to thy wish in God's stead: I also am formed out of the clay.

Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.

Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,

I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.

Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,

Y me tiene por su enemigo; | 10 Siehe, Gott erfindet Vorwürfe wider mich, er betrachtet mich als seinen Feind; |

He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.

Y vigiló todas mis sendas. | 11 er hat meine Füße in den Block gelegt und hat acht auf alle meine Wege. " |

Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.

Yo te responderé que mayor es Dios que el hombre. | 12 Siehe, darin hast du nicht recht, muß ich dir antworten; denn Gott ist mehr als ein Mensch. |

Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.

For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.

In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
| 16 Entonces revela al oído de los hombres,
Y les señala su consejo, | 16 da öffnet er das Ohr der Menschen und schreckt sie auf und warnt sie, |

That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
| 17 Para quitar al hombre de su obra,
Y apartar del varón la soberbia. | 17 damit er den Menschen von seinem Vorhaben abwende und von ihm die Hoffart tilge |

He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
| 18 Detendrá su alma del sepulcro,
Y su vida de que perezca a espada. | 18 und bewahre seine Seele vor dem Verderben und sein Leben vor des Todes Geschoß. |

He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
| 19 También sobre su cama es castigado
Con dolor fuerte en todos sus huesos, | 19 Auch warnt er ihn durch Schmerzen auf seinem Bett und durch heftigen Kampf in seinen Gliedern |

So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.
| 20 Que le hace que su vida aborrezca el pan,
Y su alma la comida suave. | 20 und richtet ihm sein Leben so zu, daß ihm vor der Speise ekelt, und seine Seele, daß sie nicht Lust hat zu essen. |

His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.
| 21 Su carne desfallece, de manera que no se ve,
Y sus huesos, que antes no se veían, aparecen. | 21 Sein Fleisch schwindet dahin, daß man's nicht ansehen kann, und seine Knochen stehen heraus, daß man lieber wegsieht; |

Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.
| 22 Su alma se acerca al sepulcro,
Y su vida a los que causan la muerte. | 22 so nähert er sich der Grube und sein Leben den Toten. |

If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:

Algún elocuente mediador muy escogido,
Que anuncie al hombre su deber; | 23 Kommt dann zu ihm ein Engel, ein Mittler, einer aus tausend, kundzutun dem Menschen, was für ihn recht ist, |

Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
| 24 Que le diga que Dios tuvo de él misericordia,
Que lo libró de descender al sepulcro,
Que halló redención; | 24 so wird er ihm gnädig sein und sagen: "Erlöse ihn, daß er nicht hinunterfahre zu den Toten; denn ich habe ein Lösegeld gefunden. |

His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:
| 25 Su carne será más tierna que la del niño,
Volverá a los días de su juventud. | 25 Sein Fleisch blühe wieder wie in der Jugend, und er soll wieder jung werden. " |

He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
| 26 Orará a Dios, y éste le amará,
Y verá su faz con júbilo;
Y restaurará al hombre su justicia. | 26 Er wird Gott bitten, und der wird ihm Gnade erweisen und wird ihn sein Antlitz sehen lassen mit Freuden und wird dem Menschen seine Gerechtigkeit zurückgeben. |

He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
| 27 El mira sobre los hombres; y al que dijere:
Pequé, y pervertí lo recto,
Y no me ha aprovechado, | 27 Er wird vor den Leuten lobsingen und sagen: "Ich hatte gesündigt und das Recht verkehrt, aber es ist mir nicht vergolten worden. |

He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
| 28 Dios redimirá su alma para que no pase al sepulcro,
Y su vida se verá en luz. | 28 Gott hat mich erlöst, daß ich nicht hinfahre zu den Toten, sondern mein Leben das Licht sieht. " |

Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,
| 29 He aquí, todas estas cosas hace Dios
Dos y tres veces con el hombre, | 29 Siehe, das alles tut Gott zwei- oder dreimal mit einem jeden, |

To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.
| 30 Para apartar su alma del sepulcro,
Y para iluminarlo con la luz de los vivientes. | 30 daß er sein Leben zurückhole von den Toten und erleuchte ihn mit dem Licht der Lebendigen. |

Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.
| 31 Escucha, Job, y óyeme;
Calla, y yo hablaré. | 31 Merk auf, Hiob, und höre mir zu und schweige, damit ich reden kann! |

If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.
| 32 Si tienes razones, respóndeme;
Habla, porque yo te quiero justificar. | 32 Hast du aber etwas zu sagen, so antworte mir. Sage an, ich will dir gern recht geben! |

If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom. | 33 Y si no, óyeme tú a mí;
Calla, y te enseñaré sabiduría. | 33 Hast du aber nichts, so höre mir zu und schweige; ich will dich Weisheit lehren. |
