The word which came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
| 1 Palabra de Jehová que vino a Jeremías, | 1 Dies ist das Wort, das geschah vom HERRN zu Jeremia: |

Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause thee to hear my words.
| 2 Levántate y vete a casa del alfarero, y allí te haré oír mis palabras. | 2 Mach dich auf und geh hinab in des Töpfers Haus; dort will ich dich meine Worte hören lassen. |

Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.
| 3 Y descendí a casa del alfarero, y he aquí que él trabajaba sobre la rueda. | 3 Und ich ging hinab in des Töpfers Haus, und siehe, er arbeitete eben auf der Scheibe. |

And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
| 4 Y la vasija de barro que él hacía se echó a perder en su mano; y volvió y la hizo otra vasija, según le pareció mejor hacerla. | 4 Und der Topf, den er aus dem Ton machte, mißriet ihm unter den Händen. Da machte er einen andern Topf daraus, wie es ihm gefiel. |

Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
| 5 Entonces vino a mí palabra de Jehová, | 5 Da geschah des HERRN Wort zu mir: |

O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the LORD. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
| 6 ¿No podré yo hacer de vosotros como este alfarero, oh casa de Israel? dice Jehová. He aquí que como el barro en la mano del alfarero, así sois vosotros en mi mano, oh casa de Israel. | 6 Kann ich nicht ebenso mit euch umgehen, ihr vom Hause Israel, wie dieser Töpfer? spricht der HERR. Siehe, wie der Ton in des Töpfers Hand, so seid auch ihr vom Hause Israel in meiner Hand. |

At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
| 7 En un instante hablaré contra pueblos y contra reinos, para arrancar, y derribar, y destruir. | 7 Bald rede ich über ein Volk und Königreich, daß ich es ausreißen, einreißen und zerstören will; |

If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
| 8 Pero si esos pueblos se convirtieren de su maldad contra la cual hablé, yo me arrepentiré del mal que había pensado hacerles, | 8 wenn es sich aber bekehrt von seiner Bosheit, gegen die ich rede, so reut mich auch das Unheil, das ich ihm gedachte zu tun. |

And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
| 9 y en un instante hablaré de la gente y del reino, para edificar y para plantar. | 9 Und bald rede ich über ein Volk und Königreich, daß ich es bauen und pflanzen will; |

If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
| 10 Pero si hiciere lo malo delante de mis ojos, no oyendo mi voz, me arrepentiré del bien que había determinado hacerle. | 10 wenn es aber tut, was mir mißfällt, daß es meiner Stimme nicht gehorcht, so reut mich auch das Gute, das ich ihm verheißen hatte zu tun. |

Now therefore go to, speak to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you: return ye now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good.
| 11 Ahora, pues, habla luego a todo hombre de Judá y a los moradores de Jerusalén, diciendo: Así ha dicho Jehová: He aquí que yo dispongo mal contra vosotros, y trazo contra vosotros designios; conviértase ahora cada uno de su mal camino, y mejore sus caminos y sus obras. | 11 Und nun sprich zu den Leuten in Juda und zu den Bürgern Jerusalems: So spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich bereite euch Unheil und habe gegen euch etwas im Sinn. So bekehrt euch doch, ein jeder von seinen bösen Wegen, und bessert euern Wandel und euer Tun! |

And they said, There is no hope: but we will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart.
| 12 Y dijeron: Es en vano; porque en pos de nuestros ídolos iremos, y haremos cada uno el pensamiento de nuestro malvado corazón. | 12 Aber sie sprechen: Daraus wird nichts! Wir wollen nach unsern Gedanken wandeln, und ein jeder soll tun nach seinem verstockten und bösen Herzen. |

Therefore thus saith the LORD; Ask ye now among the heathen, who hath heard such things: the virgin of Israel hath done a very horrible thing.
| 13 Por tanto, así dijo Jehová: Preguntad ahora a las naciones, quién ha oído cosa semejante. Gran fealdad ha hecho la virgen de Israel. | 13 Darum spricht der HERR: Fragt doch unter den Heiden: Wer hat je dergleichen gehört? So greuliche Dinge tut die Jungfrau Israel! |

Will a man leave the snow of Lebanon which cometh from the rock of the field? or shall the cold flowing waters that come from another place be forsaken?
| 14 ¿Faltará la nieve del Líbano de la piedra del campo? ¿Faltarán las aguas frías que corren de lejanas tierras? | 14 Bleibt doch der Schnee länger auf den Steinen im Felde, wenn's vom Libanon herab schneit, und das Regenwasser verläuft sich nicht so schnell, |

Because my people hath forgotten me, they have burned incense to vanity, and they have caused them to stumble in their ways from the ancient paths, to walk in paths, in a way not cast up;
| 15 Porque mi pueblo me ha olvidado, incensando a lo que es vanidad, y ha tropezado en sus caminos, en las sendas antiguas, para que camine por sendas y no por camino transitado, | 15 wie mein Volk meiner vergißt. Sie opfern den nichtigen Göttern. Die haben sie zu Fall gebracht auf den alten Wegen und lassen sie nun gehen auf ungebahnten Straßen, |

To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be astonished, and wag his head.
| 16 para poner su tierra en desolación, objeto de burla perpetua; todo aquel que pasare por ella se asombrará, y meneará la cabeza. | 16 auf daß ihr Land zur Wüste werde, ihnen zur ewigen Schande, daß, wer vorübergeht, sich entsetze und den Kopf schüttle. |

I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
| 17 Como viento solano los esparciré delante del enemigo; les mostraré las espaldas y no el rostro, en el día de su perdición. | 17 Denn ich will sie wie durch einen Ostwind zerstreuen vor ihren Feinden; ich will ihnen den Rücken und nicht das Antlitz zeigen am Tag ihres Verderbens. |

Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.
| 18 Y dijeron: Venid y maquinemos contra Jeremías; porque la ley no faltará al sacerdote, ni el consejo al sabio, ni la palabra al profeta. Venid e hirámoslo de lengua, y no atendamos a ninguna de sus palabras. | 18 Sie sprechen: "Kommt und laßt uns gegen Jeremia Böses planen; denn dem Priester wird's nicht fehlen an Weisung noch dem Weisen an Rat noch dem Propheten am Wort! Kommt, laßt uns ihn mit seinen eigenen Worten schlagen und nichts geben auf alle seine Reden!" |

Give heed to me, O LORD, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.
| 19 Oh Jehová, mira por mí, y oye la voz de los que contienden conmigo. | 19 HERR, hab acht auf mich und höre die Stimme meiner Widersacher! |

Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them.
| 20 ¿Se da mal por bien, para que hayan cavado hoyo a mi alma? Acuérdate que me puse delante de ti para hablar bien por ellos, para apartar de ellos tu ira. | 20 Ist's recht, daß man Gutes mit Bösem vergilt? Denn sie haben mir eine Grube gegraben! Gedenke doch, wie ich vor dir gestanden bin, um für sie zum besten zu reden und deinen Grimm von ihnen abzuwenden! |

Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
| 21 Por tanto, entrega sus hijos a hambre, dispérsalos por medio de la espada, y queden sus mujeres sin hijos, y viudas; y sus maridos sean puestos a muerte, y sus jóvenes heridos a espada en la guerra. | 21 So strafe nun ihre Kinder mit Hunger und gib sie dem Schwerte preis, daß ihre Frauen kinderlos und Witwen seien und ihre Männer vom Tode getroffen und ihre junge Mannschaft im Krieg durchs Schwert getötet werden; |

Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.
| 22 Oigase clamor de sus casas, cuando traigas sobre ellos ejército de repente; porque cavaron hoyo para prenderme, y a mis pies han escondido lazos. | 22 daß Geschrei aus ihren Häusern gehört werde, wenn du plötzlich Kriegsvolk über sie kommen läßt. Denn sie haben eine Grube gegraben, mich zu fangen, und meinen Füßen Fallen gestellt. |

Yet, LORD, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger. | 23 Pero tú, oh Jehová, conoces todo su consejo contra mí para muerte; no perdones su maldad, ni borres su pecado de delante de tu rostro; y tropiecen delante de ti; haz así con ellos en el tiempo de tu enojo. | 23 Aber du, HERR, kennst alle ihre Anschläge gegen mich, daß sie mich töten wollen. So vergib ihnen ihre Missetat nicht und tilge ihre Sünde nicht aus vor dir! Laß sie vor dir zu Fall kommen und handle an ihnen zur Zeit deines Zorns!b |
