But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:

But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
| 12 Bienaventurado el varón que soporta la tentación; porque cuando haya resistido la prueba, recibirá la corona de vida, que Dios ha prometido a los que le aman. | 12 Selig ist der Mann, der die Anfechtung erduldet; denn nachdem er bewährt ist, wird er die Krone des Lebens empfangen, die Gott verheißen hat denen, die ihn lieb haben. |

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
| 13 Cuando alguno es tentado, no diga que es tentado de parte de Dios; porque Dios no puede ser tentado por el mal, ni él tienta a nadie; | 13 Niemand sage, wenn er versucht wird, daß er von Gott versucht werde. Denn Gott kann nicht versucht werden zum Bösen, und er selbst versucht niemand. |

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
| 14 sino que cada uno es tentado, cuando de su propia concupiscencia es atraído y seducido. | 14 Sondern ein jeder, der versucht wird, wird von seinen eigenen Begierden gereizt und gelockt. |

Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
| 21 Por lo cual, desechando toda inmundicia y abundancia de malicia, recibid con mansedumbre la palabra implantada, la cual puede salvar vuestras almas. | 21 Darum legt ab alle Unsauberkeit und alle Bosheit und nehmt das Wort an mit Sanftmut, das in euch gepflanzt ist und Kraft hat, eure Seelen selig zu machen. |

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
| 22 Pero sed hacedores de la palabra, y no tan solamente oidores, engañándoos a vosotros mismos. | 22 Seid aber Täter des Worts und nicht Hörer allein; sonst betrügt ihr euch selbst. |

For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
| 23 Porque si alguno es oidor de la palabra pero no hacedor de ella, éste es semejante al hombre que considera en un espejo su rostro natural. | 23 Denn wenn jemand ein Hörer des Worts ist und nicht ein Täter, der gleicht einem Mann, der sein leibliches Angesicht im Spiegel beschaut; |

For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
| 24 Porque él se considera a sí mismo, y se va, y luego olvida cómo era. | 24 denn nachdem er sich beschaut hat, geht er davon und vergißt von Stund an, wie er aussah. |

But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
| 25 Mas el que mira atentamente en la perfecta ley, la de la libertad, y persevera en ella, no siendo oidor olvidadizo, sino hacedor de la obra, éste será bienaventurado en lo que hace. | 25 Wer aber durchschaut in das vollkommene Gesetz der Freiheit und dabei beharrt und ist nicht ein vergeßlicher Hörer, sondern ein Täter, der wird selig sein in seiner Tat. |

If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
| 26 Si alguno se cree religioso entre vosotros, y no refrena su lengua, sino que engaña su corazón, la religión del tal es vana. | 26 Wenn jemand meint, er diene Gott, und hält seine Zunge nicht im Zaum, sondern betrügt sein Herz, so ist sein Gottesdienst nichtig. |

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. | 27 La religión pura y sin mácula delante de Dios el Padre es esta: Visitar a los huérfanos y a las viudas en sus tribulaciones, y guardarse sin mancha del mundo. | 27 Ein reiner und unbefleckter Gottesdienst vor Gott, dem Vater, ist der: die Waisen und Witwen in ihrer Trübsal besuchen und sich selbst von der Welt unbefleckt halten. |
