Now it came to pass in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, and took them.

And the king of Assyria sent Rab-shakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with a great army. And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller's field.
| 2 Y el rey de Asiria envió al Rabsaces con un gran ejército desde Laquis a Jerusalén contra el rey Ezequías; y acampó junto al acueducto del estanque de arriba, en el camino de la heredad del Lavador. | 2 Und der König von Assyrien sandte den Rabschake von Lachisch nach Jerusalem zu dem König Hiskia mit großer Heeresmacht. Und er trat hin an die Wasserleitung des oberen Teiches, an der Straße bei dem Acker des Walkers. |

Then came forth unto him Eliakim, Hilkiah's son, which was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, Asaph's son, the recorder.
| 3 Y salió a él Eliaquim hijo de Hilcías, mayordomo, y Sebna, escriba, y Joa hijo de Asaf, canciller, | 3 Und es kamen zu ihm heraus der Hofmeister Eljakim, der Sohn Hilkijas, und der Schreiber Schebna und der Kanzler Joach, der Sohn Asafs. |

And Rab-shakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
| 4 a los cuales dijo el Rabsaces: Decid ahora a Ezequías: El gran rey, el rey de Asiria, dice así: ¿Qué confianza es esta en que te apoyas? | 4 Und der Rabschake sprach zu ihnen: Sagt doch dem Hiskia: So spricht der große König, der König von Assyrien: Was ist das für ein Vertrauen, das du da hast? |

I say, sayest thou, (but they are but vain words) I have counsel and strength for war: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?
| 5 Yo digo que el consejo y poderío para la guerra, de que tú hablas, no son más que palabras vacías. Ahora bien, ¿en quién confías para que te rebeles contra mí? | 5 Meinst du, bloße Worte seien schon Rat und Macht zum Kämpfen? Auf wen verläßt du dich denn, daß du von mir abgefallen bist? |

Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.
| 6 He aquí que confías en este báculo de caña frágil, en Egipto, en el cual si alguien se apoyare, se le entrará por la mano, y la atravesará. Tal es Faraón rey de Egipto para con todos los que en él confían. | 6 Verläßt du dich auf den zerbrochenen Rohrstab Ägypten, der jedem, der sich darauf stützt, in die Hand dringt und sie durchbohrt? So tut der Pharao, der König von Ägypten, allen, die sich auf ihn verlassen. |

But if thou say to me, We trust in the LORD our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?
| 7 Y si me decís: En Jehová nuestro Dios confiamos; ¿no es éste aquel cuyos lugares altos y cuyos altares hizo quitar Ezequías, y dijo a Judá y a Jerusalén: Delante de este altar adoraréis? | 7 Willst du mir aber sagen: Wir verlassen uns auf den HERRN, unsern Gott, - ist's denn nicht derselbe, dessen Höhen und Altäre Hiskia abgetan und zu Juda und Jerusalem gesagt hat: "Nur vor diesem Altar sollt ihr anbeten"? |

Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, to my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
| 8 Ahora, pues, yo te ruego que des rehenes al rey de Asiria mi señor, y yo te daré dos mil caballos, si tú puedes dar jinetes que cabalguen sobre ellos. | 8 Wohlan, nimm eine Wette an mit meinem Herrn, dem König von Assyrien: Ich will dir zweitausend Rosse geben; laß sehen, ob du die Reiter dazu stellen kannst! |

How then wilt thou turn away the face of one captain of the least of my master's servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
| 9 ¿Cómo, pues, podrás resistir a un capitán, al menor de los siervos de mi señor, aunque estés confiado en Egipto con sus carros y su gente de a caballo? | 9 Wie willst du denn zurücktreiben auch nur einen der geringsten Diener meines Herrn? Und du verläßt dich auf Ägypten um der Wagen und Gespanne willen! |

And am I now come up without the LORD against this land to destroy it? the LORD said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
| 10 ¿Acaso vine yo ahora a esta tierra para destruirla sin Jehová? Jehová me dijo: Sube a esta tierra y destrúyela. | 10 Meinst du denn, daß ich ohne den HERRN heraufgezogen bin in dies Land, es zu verderben? Nein, sondern der HERR sprach zu mir: Zieh hinauf in dies Land und verdirb es! |

Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rab-shakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not to us in the Jews' language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.
| 11 Entonces dijeron Eliaquim, Sebna y Joa al Rabsaces: Te rogamos que hables a tus siervos en arameo, porque nosotros lo entendemos; y no hables con nosotros en lengua de Judá, porque lo oye el pueblo que está sobre el muro. | 11 Aber Eljakim und Schebna und Joach sprachen zum Rabschake: Rede doch mit deinen Knechten aramäisch, denn wir verstehen's gut, und rede nicht hebräisch mit uns vor den Ohren des Volks, das auf der Mauer ist. |

But Rab-shakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?
| 12 Y dijo el Rabsaces: ¿Acaso me envió mi señor a que dijese estas palabras a ti y a tu señor, y no a los hombres que están sobre el muro, expuestos a comer su estiércol y beber su orina con vosotros? | 12 Da sprach der Rabschake: Meinst du, daß mein Herr mich nur zu deinem Herrn oder zu dir gesandt habe, solche Worte zu reden, und nicht vielmehr zu den Männern, die auf der Mauer sitzen und samt euch ihren eigenen Mist fressen und ihren Harn saufen werden? |

Then Rab-shakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria.
| 13 Entonces el Rabsaces se puso en pie y gritó a gran voz en lengua de Judá, diciendo: Oíd las palabras del gran rey, el rey de Asiria. | 13 Und der Rabschake trat hin und rief laut auf hebräisch und sprach: Hört die Worte des großen Königs, des Königs von Assyrien! |

Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.
| 14 El rey dice así: No os engañe Ezequías, porque no os podrá librar. | 14 So spricht der König: Laßt euch von Hiskia nicht betrügen; denn er kann euch nicht erretten. |

Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
| 15 Ni os haga Ezequías confiar en Jehová, diciendo: Ciertamente Jehová nos librará; no será entregada esta ciudad en manos del rey de Asiria. | 15 Und laßt euch von Hiskia nicht vertrösten auf den HERRN, wenn er sagt: Der HERR wird uns erretten, und diese Stadt wird nicht in die Hand des Königs von Assyrien gegeben werden. |

Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
| 16 No escuchéis a Ezequías, porque así dice el rey de Asiria: Haced conmigo paz, y salid a mí; y coma cada uno de su viña, y cada uno de su higuera, y beba cada cual las aguas de su pozo, | 16 Hört nicht auf Hiskia! Denn so spricht der König von Assyrien: Schließt Freundschaft mit mir und kommt zu mir heraus, so soll ein jeder von euch von seinem Weinstock und von seinem Feigenbaum essen und aus seinem Brunnen trinken, |

Until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.
| 17 hasta que yo venga y os lleve a una tierra como la vuestra, tierra de grano y de vino, tierra de pan y de viñas. | 17 bis ich komme und hole euch in ein Land, das wie euer Land ist, ein Land, darin Korn und Wein ist, ein Land, darin Brot und Weinberge sind. |

Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Hath any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
| 18 Mirad que no os engañe Ezequías diciendo: Jehová nos librará. ¿Acaso libraron los dioses de las naciones cada uno su tierra de la mano del rey de Asiria? | 18 Laßt euch von Hiskia nicht bereden, wenn er sagt: Der HERR wird uns erretten! Haben etwa die Götter der andern Völker ihr Land errettet aus der Hand des Königs von Assyrien? |

Where are the gods of Hamath and Arphad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim? and have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
| 19 ¿Dónde está el dios de Hamat y de Arfad? ¿Dónde está el dios de Sefarvaim? ¿Libraron a Samaria de mi mano? | 19 Wo sind die Götter von Hamat und Arpad? Wo sind die Götter von Sefarwajim? Und wo sind die Götter des Landes Samarien? Haben sie Samaria errettet aus meiner Hand? |

Who are they among all the gods of these lands, that have delivered their land out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
| 20 ¿Qué dios hay entre los dioses de estas tierras que haya librado su tierra de mi mano, para que Jehová libre de mi mano a Jerusalén? | 20 Welcher unter allen Göttern dieser Länder hat sein Land errettet aus meiner Hand, daß allein der HERR Jerusalem erretten sollte aus meiner Hand? |

But they held their peace, and answered him not a word: for the king's commandment was, saying, Answer him not.
| 21 Pero ellos callaron, y no le respondieron palabra; porque el rey así lo había mandado, diciendo: No le respondáis. | 21 Sie schwiegen aber still und antworteten ihm nichts; denn der König hatte geboten: Antwortet ihm nichts. |

Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, that was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah, the son of Asaph, the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rab-shakeh. | 22 Entonces Eliaquim hijo de Hilcías, mayordomo, y Sebna escriba, y Joa hijo de Asaf, canciller, vinieron a Ezequías, rasgados sus vestidos, y le contaron las palabras del Rabsaces. | 22 Da kamen der Hofmeister Eljakim, der Sohn Hilkijas, und der Schreiber Schebna und der Kanzler Joach, der Sohn Asafs, mit zerrissenen Kleidern zu Hiskia und sagten ihm die Worte des Rabschake an. |
