And the famine was sore in the land.

And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the corn which they had brought out of Egypt, their father said unto them, Go again, buy us a little food.

And Judah spake unto him, saying, The man did solemnly protest unto us, saying, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.
| 3 Respondió Judá, diciendo: Aquel varón nos protestó con ánimo resuelto, diciendo: No veréis mi rostro si no traéis a vuestro hermano con vosotros. | 3 Da antwortete ihm Juda und sprach: Der Mann schärfte uns das hart ein und sprach: Ihr sollt mein Angesicht nicht sehen, es sei denn euer Bruder mit euch. |

If thou wilt send our brother with us, we will go down and buy thee food:
| 4 Si enviares a nuestro hermano con nosotros, descenderemos y te compraremos alimento. | 4 Willst du nun unsern Bruder mit uns senden, so wollen wir hinabziehen und dir zu essen kaufen. |

But if thou wilt not send him, we will not go down: for the man said unto us, Ye shall not see my face, except your brother be with you.
| 5 Pero si no le enviares, no descenderemos; porque aquel varón nos dijo: No veréis mi rostro si no traéis a vuestro hermano con vosotros. | 5 Willst du ihn aber nicht senden, so ziehen wir nicht hinab. Denn der Mann hat zu uns gesagt: Ihr sollt mein Angesicht nicht sehen, euer Bruder sei denn mit euch. |

And Israel said, Wherefore dealt ye so ill with me, as to tell the man whether ye had yet a brother?
| 6 Dijo entonces Israel: ¿Por qué me hicisteis tanto mal, declarando al varón que teníais otro hermano? | 6 Israel sprach: Warum habt ihr so übel an mir getan, daß ihr dem Mann sagtet, daß ihr noch einen Bruder habt? |

And they said, The man asked us straitly of our state, and of our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye another brother? and we told him according to the tenor of these words: could we certainly know that he would say, Bring your brother down?
| 7 Y ellos respondieron: Aquel varón nos preguntó expresamente por nosotros, y por nuestra familia, diciendo: ¿Vive aún vuestro padre? ¿Tenéis otro hermano? Y le declaramos conforme a estas palabras. ¿Acaso podíamos saber que él nos diría: Haced venir a vuestro hermano? | 7 Sie antworteten: Der Mann forschte so genau nach uns und unserer Verwandtschaft und sprach: Lebt euer Vater noch? Habt ihr auch noch einen Bruder? Da antworteten wir ihm, wie er uns fragte. Wie konnten wir wissen, daß er sagen würde: Bringt euren Bruder mit herab? |

And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones.
| 8 Entonces Judá dijo a Israel su padre: Envía al joven conmigo, y nos levantaremos e iremos, a fin de que vivamos y no muramos nosotros, y tú, y nuestros niños. | 8 Da sprach Juda zu Israel, seinem Vater: Laß den Knaben mit mir ziehen, daß wir uns aufmachen und reisen und leben und nicht sterben, wir und du und unsere Kinder. |

I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:
| 9 Yo te respondo por él; a mí me pedirás cuenta. Si yo no te lo vuelvo a traer, y si no lo pongo delante de ti, seré para ti el culpable para siempre; | 9 Ich will Bürge für ihn sein; von meinen Händen sollst du ihn fordern. Wenn ich ihn dir nicht wiederbringe und vor deine Augen stelle, so will ich mein Leben lang die Schuld tragen. |

For except we had lingered, surely now we had returned this second time.
| 10 pues si no nos hubiéramos detenido, ciertamente hubiéramos ya vuelto dos veces. | 10 Denn wenn wir nicht gezögert hätten, wären wir wohl schon zweimal wiedergekommen. |

And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little balm, and a little honey, spices, and myrrh, nuts, and almonds:
| 11 Entonces Israel su padre les respondió: Pues que así es, hacedlo; tomad de lo mejor de la tierra en vuestros sacos, y llevad a aquel varón un presente, un poco de bálsamo, un poco de miel, aromas y mirra, nueces y almendras. | 11 Da sprach Israel, ihr Vater, zu ihnen: Wenn es denn so ist, wohlan so tut's und nehmt von des Landes besten Früchten in eure Säcke und bringt dem Manne Geschenke hinab, ein wenig Balsam und Honig, Harz und Myrrhe, Nüsse und Mandeln. |

And take double money in your hand; and the money that was brought again in the mouth of your sacks, carry it again in your hand; peradventure it was an oversight:
| 12 Y tomad en vuestras manos doble cantidad de dinero, y llevad en vuestra mano el dinero vuelto en las bocas de vuestros costales; quizá fue equivocación. | 12 Nehmt auch anderes Geld mit euch, und das Geld, das ihr obenauf in euren Säcken wiederbekommen habt, bringt auch wieder hin. Vielleicht ist ein Irrtum da geschehen. |

Take also your brother, and arise, go again unto the man:
| 13 Tomad también a vuestro hermano, y levantaos, y volved a aquel varón. | 13 Dazu nehmt euren Bruder, macht euch auf und geht wieder zu dem Manne. |

And God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may send away your other brother, and Benjamin. If I be bereaved of my children, I am bereaved.
| 14 Y el Dios Omnipotente os dé misericordia delante de aquel varón, y os suelte al otro vuestro hermano, y a este Benjamín. Y si he de ser privado de mis hijos, séalo. | 14 Aber der allmächtige Gott gebe euch Barmherzigkeit vor dem Manne, daß er mit euch ziehen lasse euren andern Bruder und Benjamin. Ich aber muß sein wie einer, der seiner Kinder ganz und gar beraubt ist. |

And the men took that present, and they took double money in their hand, and Benjamin; and rose up, and went down to Egypt, and stood before Joseph.
| 15 Entonces tomaron aquellos varones el presente, y tomaron en su mano doble cantidad de dinero, y a Benjamín; y se levantaron y descendieron a Egipto, y se presentaron delante de José. | 15 Da nahmen sie diese Geschenke und das doppelte Geld mit sich, dazu Benjamin, machten sich auf, zogen nach Ägypten und traten vor Josef. |

And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men home, and slay, and make ready; for these men shall dine with me at noon.
| 16 Y vio José a Benjamín con ellos, y dijo al mayordomo de su casa: Lleva a casa a esos hombres, y degüella una res y prepárala, pues estos hombres comerán conmigo al mediodía. | 16 Als Josef sie sah mit Benjamin, sprach er zu seinem Haushalter: Führe diese Männer ins Haus und schlachte und richte zu, denn sie sollen zu Mittag mit mir essen. |

And the man did as Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph's house.
| 17 E hizo el hombre como José dijo, y llevó a los hombres a casa de José. | 17 Und der Mann tat, wie ihm Josef gesagt hatte, und führte die Männer in Josefs Haus. |

And the men were afraid, because they were brought into Joseph's house; and they said, Because of the money that was returned in our sacks at the first time are we brought in; that he may seek occasion against us, and fall upon us, and take us for bondmen, and our asses.
| 18 Entonces aquellos hombres tuvieron temor, cuando fueron llevados a casa de José, y decían: Por el dinero que fue devuelto en nuestros costales la primera vez nos han traído aquí, para tendernos lazo, y atacarnos, y tomarnos por siervos a nosotros, y a nuestros asnos. | 18 Sie fürchteten sich aber, weil sie in Josefs Haus geführt wurden, und sprachen: Wir sind hereingeführt um des Geldes willen, das wir in unsern Säcken das vorige Mal wiedergefunden haben; man will auf uns eindringen und über uns herfallen und uns zu Sklaven machen und uns die Esel nehmen. |

And they came near to the steward of Joseph's house, and they communed with him at the door of the house,
| 19 Y se acercaron al mayordomo de la casa de José, y le hablaron a la entrada de la casa. | 19 Darum traten sie zu Josefs Haushalter und redeten mit ihm vor der Haustür |

And said, O sir, we came indeed down at the first time to buy food:
| 20 Y dijeron: Ay, señor nuestro, nosotros en realidad de verdad descendimos al principio a comprar alimentos. | 20 und sprachen: Mein Herr, wir sind das vorige Mal herabgezogen, Getreide zu kaufen, |

And it came to pass, when we came to the inn, that we opened our sacks, and, behold, every man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.
| 21 Y aconteció que cuando llegamos al mesón y abrimos nuestros costales, he aquí el dinero de cada uno estaba en la boca de su costal, nuestro dinero en su justo peso; y lo hemos vuelto a traer con nosotros. | 21 und als wir in die Herberge kamen und unsere Säcke auftaten, siehe, da war eines jeden Geld oben in seinem Sack mit vollem Gewicht. Darum haben wir's wieder mit uns gebracht, |

And other money have we brought down in our hands to buy food: we cannot tell who put our money in our sacks.
| 22 Hemos también traído en nuestras manos otro dinero para comprar alimentos; nosotros no sabemos quién haya puesto nuestro dinero en nuestros costales. | 22 haben auch anderes Geld mit uns herabgebracht, Getreide zu kaufen. Wir wissen aber nicht, wer uns unser Geld in unsere Säcke gesteckt hat. |

And he said, Peace be to you, fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them.
| 23 El les respondió: Paz a vosotros, no temáis; vuestro Dios y el Dios de vuestro padre os dio el tesoro en vuestros costales; yo recibí vuestro dinero. Y sacó a Simeón a ellos. | 23 Er aber sprach: Seid guten Mutes, fürchtet euch nicht! Euer Gott und eures Vaters Gott hat euch einen Schatz gegeben in eure Säcke. Euer Geld habe ich erhalten. Und er führte Simeon zu ihnen heraus |

And the man brought the men into Joseph's house, and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their asses provender.
| 24 Y llevó aquel varón a los hombres a casa de José; y les dio agua, y lavaron sus pies, y dio de comer a sus asnos. | 24 und brachte sie in Josefs Haus, gab ihnen Wasser, daß sie ihre Füße wuschen, und gab ihren Eseln Futter. |

And they made ready the present against Joseph came at noon: for they heard that they should eat bread there.
| 25 Y ellos prepararon el presente entretanto que venía José a mediodía, porque habían oído que allí habrían de comer pan. | 25 Sie aber richteten das Geschenk zu, bis Josef mittags käme; denn sie hatten gehört, daß sie dort essen sollten. |

And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed themselves to him to the earth.
| 26 Y vino José a casa, y ellos le trajeron el presente que tenían en su mano dentro de la casa, y se inclinaron ante él hasta la tierra. | 26 Als nun Josef ins Haus trat, brachten sie ihm das Geschenk ins Haus, das sie mitgebracht hatten, und fielen vor ihm nieder zur Erde. |

And he asked them of their welfare, and said, Is your father well, the old man of whom ye spake? Is he yet alive?
| 27 Entonces les preguntó José cómo estaban, y dijo: ¿Vuestro padre, el anciano que dijisteis, lo pasa bien? ¿Vive todavía? | 27 Er aber grüßte sie freundlich und sprach: Geht es eurem alten Vater gut, von dem ihr mir sagtet? Lebt er noch? |

And they answered, Thy servant our father is in good health, he is yet alive. And they bowed down their heads, and made obeisance.
| 28 Y ellos respondieron: Bien va a tu siervo nuestro padre; aún vive. Y se inclinaron, e hicieron reverencia. | 28 Sie antworteten: Es geht deinem Knechte, unserm Vater, gut, und er lebt noch. Und sie verneigten sich und fielen vor ihm nieder. |

And he lifted up his eyes, and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's son, and said, Is this your younger brother, of whom ye spake unto me? And he said, God be gracious unto thee, my son.
| 29 Y alzando José sus ojos vio a Benjamín su hermano, hijo de su madre, y dijo: ¿Es éste vuestro hermano menor, de quien me hablasteis? Y dijo: Dios tenga misericordia de ti, hijo mío. | 29 Und er hob seine Augen auf und sah seinen Bruder Benjamin, seiner Mutter Sohn, und sprach: Ist das euer jüngster Bruder, von dem ihr mir sagtet? Und sprach weiter: Gott sei dir gnädig, mein Sohn! |

And Joseph made haste; for his bowels did yearn upon his brother: and he sought where to weep; and he entered into his chamber, and wept there.
| 30 Entonces José se apresuró, porque se conmovieron sus entrañas a causa de su hermano, y buscó dónde llorar; y entró en su cámara, y lloró allí. | 30 Und Josef eilte hinaus; denn sein Herz entbrannte ihm gegen seinen Bruder, und er suchte, wo er weinen könnte, und ging in seine Kammer und weinte daselbst. |

And he washed his face, and went out, and refrained himself, and said, Set on bread.
| 31 Y lavó su rostro y salió, y se contuvo, y dijo: Poned pan. | 31 Und als er sein Angesicht gewaschen hatte, ging er heraus und hielt an sich und sprach: Legt die Speisen auf! |

And they set on for him by himself, and for them by themselves, and for the Egyptians, which did eat with him, by themselves: because the Egyptians might not eat bread with the Hebrews; for that is an abomination unto the Egyptians.
| 32 Y pusieron para él aparte, y separadamente para ellos, y aparte para los egipcios que con él comían; porque los egipcios no pueden comer pan con los hebreos, lo cual es abominación a los egipcios. | 32 Und man trug ihm besonders auf und jenen auch besonders und den Ägyptern, die mit ihm aßen, auch besonders. Denn die Ägypter dürfen nicht essen mit den Hebräern; denn es ist ein Greuel für sie. |

And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright, and the youngest according to his youth: and the men marvelled one at another.
| 33 Y se sentaron delante de él, el mayor conforme a su primogenitura, y el menor conforme a su menor edad; y estaban aquellos hombres atónitos mirándose el uno al otro. | 33 Und man setzte sie ihm gegenüber, den Erstgeborenen nach seiner Erstgeburt und den Jüngsten nach seiner Jugend. Darüber verwunderten sie sich untereinander. |

And he took and sent messes unto them from before him: but Benjamin's mess was five times so much as any of theirs. And they drank, and were merry with him. | 34 Y José tomó viandas de delante de sí para ellos; mas la porción de Benjamín era cinco veces mayor que cualquiera de las de ellos. Y bebieron, y se alegraron con él. | 34 Und man trug ihnen Essen auf von seinem Tisch, aber Benjamin bekam fünfmal mehr als die andern. Und sie tranken und wurden fröhlich mit ihm. |
