When Jethro, the priest of Midian, Moses' father in law, heard of all that God had done for Moses, and for Israel his people, and that the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt;
| 1 Oyó Jetro sacerdote de Madián, suegro de Moisés, todas las cosas que Dios había hecho con Moisés, y con Israel su pueblo, y cómo Jehová había sacado a Israel de Egipto. | 1 Und Jitro, der Priester in Midian, Moses Schwiegervater, hörte alles, was Gott an Mose und seinem Volk Israel getan hatte, daß der HERR Israel aus Ägypten geführt hatte. |

Then Jethro, Moses' father in law, took Zipporah, Moses' wife, after he had sent her back,
| 2 Y tomó Jetro suegro de Moisés a Séfora la mujer de Moisés, después que él la envió, | 2 Da nahm er mit sich Zippora, die Frau des Mose, die er zurückgesandt hatte, |

And her two sons; of which the name of the one was Gershom; for he said, I have been an alien in a strange land:
| 3 y a sus dos hijos; el uno se llamaba Gersón, porque dijo: Forastero he sido en tierra ajena; | 3 samt ihren beiden Söhnen; von denen hieß einer Gerschom, denn Mose sprach: Ich bin ein Gast geworden in fremdem Lande, |

And the name of the other was Eliezer; for the God of my father, said he, was mine help, and delivered me from the sword of Pharaoh:
| 4 y el otro se llamaba Eliezer, porque dijo: El Dios de mi padre me ayudó, y me libró de la espada de Faraón. | 4 und der andere Elïser, denn er sprach: Der Gott meines Vaters ist meine Hilfe gewesen und hat mich errettet vor dem Schwert des Pharao. |

And Jethro, Moses' father in law, came with his sons and his wife unto Moses into the wilderness, where he encamped at the mount of God:
| 5 Y Jetro el suegro de Moisés, con los hijos y la mujer de éste, vino a Moisés en el desierto, donde estaba acampado junto al monte de Dios; | 5 Als nun Jitro, Moses Schwiegervater, und seine Söhne und seine Frau zu ihm in die Wüste kamen, an den Berg Gottes, wo er sich gelagert hatte, |

And he said unto Moses, I thy father in law Jethro am come unto thee, and thy wife, and her two sons with her.
| 6 y dijo a Moisés: Yo tu suegro Jetro vengo a ti, con tu mujer, y sus dos hijos con ella. | 6 ließ er Mose sagen: Ich, Jitro, dein Schwiegervater, bin zu dir gekommen und deine Frau und ihre beiden Söhne mit ihr. |

And Moses went out to meet his father in law, and did obeisance, and kissed him; and they asked each other of their welfare; and they came into the tent.
| 7 Y Moisés salió a recibir a su suegro, y se inclinó, y lo besó; y se preguntaron el uno al otro cómo estaban, y vinieron a la tienda. | 7 Da ging Mose hinaus ihm entgegen und neigte sich vor ihm und küßte ihn. Und als sie sich untereinander gegrüßt hatten, gingen sie in das Zelt. |

And Moses told his father in law all that the LORD had done unto Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel's sake, and all the travail that had come upon them by the way, and how the LORD delivered them.
| 8 Y Moisés contó a su suegro todas las cosas que Jehová había hecho a Faraón y a los egipcios por amor de Israel, y todo el trabajo que habían pasado en el camino, y cómo los había librado Jehová. | 8 Da erzählte Mose seinem Schwiegervater alles, was der HERR um Israels willen dem Pharao und den Ägyptern angetan hatte, und alle die Mühsal, die ihnen auf dem Wege begegnet war, und wie sie der HERR errettet hatte. |

And Jethro rejoiced for all the goodness which the LORD had done to Israel, whom he had delivered out of the hand of the Egyptians.
| 9 Y se alegró Jetro de todo el bien que Jehová había hecho a Israel, al haberlo librado de mano de los egipcios. | 9 Jitro aber freute sich über all das Gute, das der HERR an Israel getan hatte, wie er sie errettet hatte aus der Ägypter Hand. |

And Jethro said, Blessed be the LORD, who hath delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of Pharaoh, who hath delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians.
| 10 Y Jetro dijo: Bendito sea Jehová, que os libró de mano de los egipcios, y de la mano de Faraón, y que libró al pueblo de la mano de los egipcios. | 10 Und Jitro sprach: Gelobt sei der HERR, der euch errettet hat aus der Ägypter und des Pharao Hand. |

Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: for in the thing wherein they dealt proudly he was above them.
| 11 Ahora conozco que Jehová es más grande que todos los dioses; porque en lo que se ensoberbecieron prevaleció contra ellos. | 11 Nun weiß ich, daß der HERR größer ist als alle Götter; denn er hat das Volk aus der Ägypter Hand errettet, weil sie vermessen an Israel gehandelt haben. |

And Jethro, Moses' father in law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God: and Aaron came, and all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses' father in law before God.
| 12 Y tomó Jetro, suegro de Moisés, holocaustos y sacrificios para Dios; y vino Aarón y todos los ancianos de Israel para comer con el suegro de Moisés delante de Dios. | 12 Und Jitro, Moses Schwiegervater, brachte Gott ein Brandopfer und Schlachtopfer dar. Da kamen Aaron und alle Ältesten von Israel, um mit Moses Schwiegervater das Mahl zu halten vor Gott. |

And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses sat to judge the people: and the people stood by Moses from the morning unto the evening.
| 13 Aconteció que al día siguiente se sentó Moisés a juzgar al pueblo; y el pueblo estuvo delante de Moisés desde la mañana hasta la tarde. | 13 Am andern Morgen setzte sich Mose, um dem Volk Recht zu sprechen. Und das Volk stand um Mose her vom Morgen bis zum Abend. |

And when Moses' father in law saw all that he did to the people, he said, What is this thing that thou doest to the people? why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?
| 14 Viendo el suegro de Moisés todo lo que él hacía con el pueblo, dijo: ¿Qué es esto que haces tú con el pueblo? ¿Por qué te sientas tú solo, y todo el pueblo está delante de ti desde la mañana hasta la tarde? | 14 Als aber sein Schwiegervater alles sah, was er mit dem Volk tat, sprach er: Was tust du denn mit dem Volk? Warum mußt du ganz allein da sitzen, und alles Volk steht um dich her vom Morgen bis zum Abend? |

And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to enquire of God:
| 15 Y Moisés respondió a su suegro: Porque el pueblo viene a mí para consultar a Dios. | 15 Mose antwortete ihm: Das Volk kommt zu mir, um Gott zu befragen. |

When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make them know the statutes of God, and his laws.
| 16 Cuando tienen asuntos, vienen a mí; y yo juzgo entre el uno y el otro, y declaro las ordenanzas de Dios y sus leyes. | 16 Denn wenn sie einen Streitfall haben, kommen sie zu mir, damit ich richte zwischen dem einen und dem andern und tue ihnen kund die Satzungen Gottes und seine Weisungen. |

And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest is not good.
| 17 Entonces el suegro de Moisés le dijo: No está bien lo que haces. | 17 Sein Schwiegervater sprach zu ihm: Es ist nicht gut, wie du das tust. |

Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.
| 18 Desfallecerás del todo, tú, y también este pueblo que está contigo; porque el trabajo es demasiado pesado para ti; no podrás hacerlo tú solo. | 18 Du machst dich zu müde, dazu auch das Volk, das mit dir ist. Das Geschäft ist dir zu schwer; du kannst es allein nicht ausrichten. |

Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:
| 19 Oye ahora mi voz; yo te aconsejaré, y Dios estará contigo. Está tú por el pueblo delante de Dios, y somete tú los asuntos a Dios. | 19 Aber gehorche meiner Stimme; ich will dir raten, und Gott wird mit dir sein. Vertritt du das Volk vor Gott und bringe ihre Anliegen vor Gott |

And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.
| 20 Y enseña a ellos las ordenanzas y las leyes, y muéstrales el camino por donde deben andar, y lo que han de hacer. | 20 und tu ihnen die Satzungen und Weisungen kund, daß du sie lehrest den Weg, auf dem sie wandeln, und die Werke, die sie tun sollen. |

Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:
| 21 Además escoge tú de entre todo el pueblo varones de virtud, temerosos de Dios, varones de verdad, que aborrezcan la avaricia; y ponlos sobre el pueblo por jefes de millares, de centenas, de cincuenta y de diez. | 21 Sieh dich aber unter dem ganzen Volk um nach redlichen Leuten, die Gott fürchten, wahrhaftig sind und dem ungerechten Gewinn feind. Die setze über sie als Oberste über tausend, über hundert, über fünfzig und über zehn, |

And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.
| 22 Ellos juzgarán al pueblo en todo tiempo; y todo asunto grave lo traerán a ti, y ellos juzgarán todo asunto pequeño. Así aliviarás la carga de sobre ti, y la llevarán ellos contigo. | 22 daß sie das Volk allezeit richten. Nur wenn es eine größere Sache ist, sollen sie diese vor dich bringen, alle geringeren Sachen aber sollen sie selber richten. So mach dir's leichter und laß sie mit dir tragen. |

If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee so, then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.
| 23 Si esto hicieres, y Dios te lo mandare, tú podrás sostenerte, y también todo este pueblo irá en paz a su lugar. | 23 Wirst du das tun, so kannst du ausrichten, was dir Gott gebietet, und dies ganze Volk kann mit Frieden an seinen Ort kommen. |

So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.
| 24 Y oyó Moisés la voz de su suegro, e hizo todo lo que dijo. | 24 Mose gehorchte dem Wort seines Schwiegervaters und tat alles, was er sagte, |

And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.
| 25 Escogió Moisés varones de virtud de entre todo Israel, y los puso por jefes sobre el pueblo, sobre mil, sobre ciento, sobre cincuenta, y sobre diez. | 25 und erwählte redliche Leute aus ganz Israel und machte sie zu Häuptern über das Volk, zu Obersten über tausend, über hundert, über fünfzig und über zehn, |

And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.
| 26 Y juzgaban al pueblo en todo tiempo; el asunto difícil lo traían a Moisés, y ellos juzgaban todo asunto pequeño. | 26 daß sie das Volk allezeit richteten, die schwereren Sachen vor Mose brächten und die kleineren Sachen selber richteten. |

And Moses let his father in law depart; and he went his way into his own land. | 27 Y despidió Moisés a su suegro, y éste se fue a su tierra. | 27 Und Mose ließ seinen Schwiegervater wieder in sein Land ziehen. |
