Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.

And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.

And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and the land was filled with them.
| 7 Y los hijos de Israel fructificaron y se multiplicaron, y fueron aumentados y fortalecidos en extremo, y se llenó de ellos la tierra. | 7 wuchsen die Nachkommen Israels und zeugten Kinder und mehrten sich und wurden überaus stark, so daß von ihnen das Land voll ward. |

Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.
| 8 Entretanto, se levantó sobre Egipto un nuevo rey que no conocía a José; | 8 Da kam ein neuer König auf in Ägypten, der wußte nichts von Josef |

And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:
| 9 He aquí, el pueblo de los hijos de Israel es mayor y más fuerte que nosotros. | 9 und sprach zu seinem Volk: Siehe, das Volk Israel ist mehr und stärker als wir. |

Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.
| 10 Ahora, pues, seamos sabios para con él, para que no se multiplique, y acontezca que viniendo guerra, él también se una a nuestros enemigos y pelee contra nosotros, y se vaya de la tierra. | 10 Wohlan, wir wollen sie mit List niederhalten, daß sie nicht noch mehr werden. Denn wenn ein Krieg ausbräche, könnten sie sich auch zu unsern Feinden schlagen und gegen uns kämpfen und aus dem Lande ausziehen. |

Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.
| 11 Entonces pusieron sobre ellos comisarios de tributos que los molestasen con sus cargas; y edificaron para Faraón las ciudades de almacenaje, Pitón y Ramesés. | 11 Und man setzte Fronvögte über sie, die sie mit Zwangsarbeit bedrücken sollten. Und sie bauten dem Pharao die Städte Pitom und Ramses als Vorratsstädte. |

But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.
| 12 Pero cuanto más los oprimían, tanto más se multiplicaban y crecían, de manera que los egipcios temían a los hijos de Israel. | 12 Aber je mehr sie das Volk bedrückten, desto stärker mehrte es sich und breitete sich aus. Und es kam sie ein Grauen an vor Israel. |

And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
| 13 Y los egipcios hicieron servir a los hijos de Israel con dureza, | 13 Da zwangen die Ägypter die Israeliten unbarmherzig zum Dienst |

And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage, in morter, and in brick, and in all manner of service in the field: all their service, wherein they made them serve, was with rigour.
| 14 y amargaron su vida con dura servidumbre, en hacer barro y ladrillo, y en toda labor del campo y en todo su servicio, al cual los obligaban con rigor. | 14 und machten ihnen ihr Leben sauer mit schwerer Arbeit in Ton und Ziegeln und mit mancherlei Frondienst auf dem Felde, mit all ihrer Arbeit, die sie ihnen auflegten ohne Erbarmen. |

And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one was Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:
| 15 Y habló el rey de Egipto a las parteras de las hebreas, una de las cuales se llamaba Sifra, y otra Fúa, | 15 Und der König von Ägypten sprach zu den hebräischen Hebammen, von denen die eine Schifra hieß und die andere Pua: |

And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools; if it be a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be a daughter, then she shall live.
| 16 Cuando asistáis a las hebreas en sus partos, y veáis el sexo, si es hijo, matadlo; y si es hija, entonces viva. | 16 Wenn ihr den hebräischen Frauen helft und bei der Geburt seht, daß es ein Sohn ist, so tötet ihn; ist's aber eine Tochter, so laßt sie leben. |

But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.
| 17 Pero las parteras temieron a Dios, y no hicieron como les mandó el rey de Egipto, sino que preservaron la vida a los niños. | 17 Aber die Hebammen fürchteten Gott und taten nicht, wie der König von Ägypten ihnen gesagt hatte, sondern ließen die Kinder leben. |

And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?
| 18 Y el rey de Egipto hizo llamar a las parteras y les dijo: ¿Por qué habéis hecho esto, que habéis preservado la vida a los niños? | 18 Da rief der König von Ägypten die Hebammen und sprach zu ihnen: Warum tut ihr das, daß ihr die Kinder leben laßt? |

And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.
| 19 Y las parteras respondieron a Faraón: Porque las mujeres hebreas no son como las egipcias; pues son robustas, y dan a luz antes que la partera venga a ellas. | 19 Die Hebammen antworteten dem Pharao: Die hebräischen Frauen sind nicht wie die ägyptischen, denn sie sind kräftige Frauen. Ehe die Hebamme zu ihnen kommt, haben sie geboren. |

Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
| 20 Y Dios hizo bien a las parteras; y el pueblo se multiplicó y se fortaleció en gran manera. | 20 Darum tat Gott den Hebammen Gutes. Und das Volk mehrte sich und wurde sehr stark. |

And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.
| 21 Y por haber las parteras temido a Dios, él prosperó sus familias. | 21 Und weil die Hebammen Gott fürchteten, segnete er ihre Häuser. |

And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive. | 22 Entonces Faraón mandó a todo su pueblo, diciendo: Echad al río a todo hijo que nazca, y a toda hija preservad la vida. | 22 Da gebot der Pharao seinem ganzen Volk und sprach: Alle Söhne, die geboren werden, werft in den Nil, aber alle Töchter laßt leben. |
