Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.

Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.
| 2 Belsasar, con el gusto del vino, mandó que trajesen los vasos de oro y de plata que Nabucodonosor su padre había traído del templo de Jerusalén, para que bebiesen en ellos el rey y sus grandes, sus mujeres y sus concubinas. | 2 Und als er betrunken war, ließ er die goldenen und silbernen Gefäße herbringen, die sein Vater Nebukadnezar aus dem Tempel zu Jerusalem weggenommen hatte, damit der König mit seinen Mächtigen, mit seinen Frauen und mit seinen Nebenfrauen daraus tränke. |

Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.
| 3 Entonces fueron traídos los vasos de oro que habían traído del templo de la casa de Dios que estaba en Jerusalén, y bebieron en ellos el rey y sus príncipes, sus mujeres y sus concubinas. | 3 Da wurden die goldenen und silbernen Gefäße herbeigebracht, die aus dem Tempel, aus dem Hause Gottes zu Jerusalem, weggenommen worden waren; und der König, seine Mächtigen, seine Frauen und Nebenfrauen tranken daraus. |

They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
| 5 En aquella misma hora aparecieron los dedos de una mano de hombre, que escribía delante del candelero sobre lo encalado de la pared del palacio real, y el rey veía la mano que escribía. | 5 Im gleichen Augenblick gingen hervor Finger wie von einer Menschenhand, die schrieben gegenüber dem Leuchter auf die getünchte Wand in dem königlichen Saal. Und der König erblickte die Hand, die da schrieb. |

Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.
| 6 Entonces el rey palideció, y sus pensamientos lo turbaron, y se debilitaron sus lomos, y sus rodillas daban la una contra la otra. | 6 Da entfärbte sich der König, und seine Gedanken erschreckten ihn, so daß er wie gelähmt war und ihm die Beine zitterten. |

The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
| 7 El rey gritó en alta voz que hiciesen venir magos, caldeos y adivinos; y dijo el rey a los sabios de Babilonia: Cualquiera que lea esta escritura y me muestre su interpretación, será vestido de púrpura, y un collar de oro llevará en su cuello, y será el tercer señor en el reino. | 7 Und der König rief laut, daß man die Weisen, Gelehrten und Wahrsager herbeiholen solle. Und er ließ den Weisen von Babel sagen: Welcher Mensch diese Schrift lesen kann und mir sagt, was sie bedeutet, der soll mit Purpur gekleidet werden und eine goldene Kette um den Hals tragen und der Dritte in meinem Königreich sein. |

Then came in all the king's wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.
| 8 Entonces fueron introducidos todos los sabios del rey, pero no pudieron leer la escritura ni mostrar al rey su interpretación. | 8 Da wurden alle Weisen des Königs hereingeführt, aber sie konnten weder die Schrift lesen noch die Deutung dem König kundtun. |

Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied.
| 9 Entonces el rey Belsasar se turbó sobremanera, y palideció, y sus príncipes estaban perplejos. | 9 Darüber erschrak der König Belsazar noch mehr und verlor seine Farbe ganz, und seinen Mächtigen wurde angst und bange. |

Now the queen, by reason of the words of the king and his lords, came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:
| 10 La reina, por las palabras del rey y de sus príncipes, entró a la sala del banquete, y dijo: Rey, vive para siempre; no te turben tus pensamientos, ni palidezca tu rostro. | 10 Da ging auf die Worte des Königs und seiner Mächtigen die Königinmutter in den Saal hinein und sprach: Der König lebe ewig! Laß dich von deinen Gedanken nicht so erschrecken, und entfärbe dich nicht! |

There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;
| 11 En tu reino hay un hombre en el cual mora el espíritu de los dioses santos, y en los días de tu padre se halló en él luz e inteligencia y sabiduría, como sabiduría de los dioses; al que el rey Nabucodonosor tu padre, oh rey, constituyó jefe sobre todos los magos, astrólogos, caldeos y adivinos, | 11 Es ist ein Mann in deinem Königreich, der den Geist der heiligen Götter hat. Denn zu deines Vaters Zeiten fand sich bei ihm Erleuchtung, Klugheit und Weisheit wie der Götter Weisheit. Und dein Vater, der König Nebukadnezar, setzte ihn über die Zeichendeuter, Weisen, Gelehrten und Wahrsager, |

Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.
| 12 por cuanto fue hallado en él mayor espíritu y ciencia y entendimiento, para interpretar sueños y descifrar enigmas y resolver dudas; esto es, en Daniel, al cual el rey puso por nombre Beltsasar. Llámese, pues, ahora a Daniel, y él te dará la interpretación. | 12 weil ein überragender Geist bei ihm gefunden wurde, dazu Verstand und Klugheit, Träume zu deuten, dunkle Sprüche zu erraten und Geheimnisse zu offenbaren. Das ist Daniel, dem der König den Namen Beltschazar gab. So rufe man nun Daniel; der wird sagen, was es bedeutet. |

Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?

Y dijo el rey a Daniel: ¿Eres tú aquel Daniel de los hijos de la cautividad de Judá, que mi padre trajo de Judea? | 13 Da wurde Daniel vor den König geführt. I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.
| 14 Yo he oído de ti que el espíritu de los dioses santos está en ti, y que en ti se halló luz, entendimiento y mayor sabiduría. | 14 Ich habe von dir sagen hören, daß du den Geist der heiligen Götter habest und Erleuchtung, Verstand und hohe Weisheit bei dir zu finden sei. |

And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:
| 15 Y ahora fueron traídos delante de mí sabios y astrólogos para que leyesen esta escritura y me diesen su interpretación; pero no han podido mostrarme la interpretación del asunto. | 15 Nun hab ich vor mich rufen lassen die Weisen und Gelehrten, damit sie mir diese Schrift lesen und kundtun sollen, was sie bedeutet; aber sie können mir nicht sagen, was sie bedeutet. |

And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
| 16 Yo, pues, he oído de ti que puedes dar interpretaciones y resolver dificultades. Si ahora puedes leer esta escritura y darme su interpretación, serás vestido de púrpura, y un collar de oro llevarás en tu cuello, y serás el tercer señor en el reino. | 16 Von dir aber höre ich, daß du Deutungen zu geben und Geheimnisse zu offenbaren vermagst. Kannst du nun die Schrift lesen und mir sagen, was sie bedeutet, so sollst du mit Purpur gekleidet werden und eine goldene Kette um deinen Hals tragen und der Dritte in meinem Königreich sein. |

Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
| 17 Entonces Daniel respondió y dijo delante del rey: Tus dones sean para ti, y da tus recompensas a otros. Leeré la escritura al rey, y le daré la interpretación. | 17 Da fing Daniel an und sprach vor dem König: Behalte deine Gaben und gib dein Geschenk einem andern; ich will dennoch die Schrift dem König lesen und kundtun, was sie bedeutet. |

O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:
| 18 El Altísimo Dios, oh rey, dio a Nabucodonosor tu padre el reino y la grandeza, la gloria y la majestad. | 18 Mein König, Gott der Höchste hat deinem Vater Nebukadnezar Königreich, Macht, Ehre und Herrlichkeit gegeben. |

And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.
| 19 Y por la grandeza que le dio, todos los pueblos, naciones y lenguas temblaban y temían delante de él. A quien quería mataba, y a quien quería daba vida; engrandecía a quien quería, y a quien quería humillaba. | 19 Und um solcher Macht willen, die ihm gegeben war, fürchteten und scheuten sich vor ihm alle Völker und Leute aus so vielen verschiedenen Sprachen. Er tötete, wen er wollte; er ließ leben, wen er wollte; er erhöhte, wen er wollte; er demütigte, wen er wollte. |

But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:
| 20 Mas cuando su corazón se ensoberbeció, y su espíritu se endureció en su orgullo, fue depuesto del trono de su reino, y despojado de su gloria. | 20 Als sich aber sein Herz überhob und er stolz und hochmütig wurde, da wurde er vom königlichen Thron gestoßen und verlor seine Ehre |

And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.
| 21 Y fue echado de entre los hijos de los hombres, y su mente se hizo semejante a la de las bestias, y con los asnos monteses fue su morada. Hierba le hicieron comer como a buey, y su cuerpo fue mojado con el rocío del cielo, hasta que reconoció que el Altísimo Dios tiene dominio sobre el reino de los hombres, y que pone sobre él al que le place. | 21 und wurde verstoßen aus der Gemeinschaft der Menschen, und sein Herz wurde gleich dem der Tiere, und er mußte bei dem Wild hausen und fraß Gras wie die Rinder, und sein Leib lag unter dem Tau des Himmels und wurde naß, bis er lernte, daß Gott der Höchste Gewalt hat über die Königreiche der Menschen und sie gibt, wem er will. |

And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;
| 22 Y tú, su hijo Belsasar, no has humillado tu corazón, sabiendo todo esto; | 22 Aber du, Belsazar, sein Sohn, hast dein Herz nicht gedemütigt, obwohl du das alles wußtest, |

But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:
| 23 sino que contra el Señor del cielo te has ensoberbecido, e hiciste traer delante de ti los vasos de su casa, y tú y tus grandes, tus mujeres y tus concubinas, bebisteis vino en ellos; además de esto, diste alabanza a dioses de plata y oro, de bronce, de hierro, de madera y de piedra, que ni ven, ni oyen, ni saben; y al Dios en cuya mano está tu vida, y cuyos son todos tus caminos, nunca honraste. | 23 sondern hast dich gegen den Herrn des Himmels erhoben, und die Gefäße seines Hauses hat man vor dich bringen müssen, und du, deine Mächtigen, deine Frauen und deine Nebenfrauen, ihr habt daraus getrunken; dazu hast du die silbernen, goldenen, ehernen, eisernen, hölzernen, steinernen Götter gelobt, die weder sehen noch hören noch fühlen können. Den Gott aber, der deinen Odem und alle deine Wege in seiner Hand hat, hast du nicht verehrt. |

Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.
| 24 Entonces de su presencia fue enviada la mano que trazó esta escritura. | 24 Darum wurde von ihm diese Hand gesandt und diese Schrift geschrieben. |

And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHaRSIN.
| 25 Y la escritura que trazó es: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPARSIN. | 25 So aber lautet die Schrift, die dort geschrieben steht: Mene mene tekel uparsin. |

This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.
| 26 Esta es la interpretación del asunto: MENE: Contó Dios tu reino, y le ha puesto fin. | 26 Und sie bedeutet dies: Mene, das ist, Gott hat dein Königtum gezählt und beendet. |

TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
| 27 TEKEL: Pesado has sido en balanza, y fuiste hallado falto. | 27 Tekel, das ist, man hat dich auf der Waage gewogen und zu leicht befunden. |

PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
| 28 PERES: Tu reino ha sido roto, y dado a los medos y a los persas. | 28 Peres, das ist, dein Reich ist zerteilt und den Medern und Persern gegeben. |

Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
| 29 Entonces mandó Belsasar vestir a Daniel de púrpura, y poner en su cuello un collar de oro, y proclamar que él era el tercer señor del reino. | 29 Da befahl Belsazar, daß man Daniel mit Purpur kleiden sollte und ihm eine goldene Kette um den Hals geben; und er ließ von ihm verkünden, daß er der Dritte im Königreich sei. |

In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.
| 30 La misma noche fue muerto Belsasar rey de los caldeos. | 30 Aber in derselben Nacht wurde Belsazar, der König der Chaldäer, getötet. |

And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old. | 31 Y Darío de Media tomó el reino, siendo de sesenta y dos años. | |
