Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.

How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.

I Nebuchadnezzar was at rest in mine house, and flourishing in my palace:

I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.
| 5 Vi un sueño que me espantó, y tendido en cama, las imaginaciones y visiones de mi cabeza me turbaron. | 5 bis zuletzt Daniel vor mich trat, der Beltschazar heißt nach dem Namen meines Gottes und der den Geist der heiligen Götter hat. Und ich erzählte vor ihm den Traum: |

Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream.
| 6 Por esto mandé que vinieran delante de mí todos los sabios de Babilonia, para que me mostrasen la interpretación del sueño. | 6 Beltschazar, du Oberster unter den Zeichendeutern, von dem ich weiß, daß du den Geist der heiligen Götter hast und dir nichts verborgen ist, sage, was die Gesichte meines Traumes, die ich gesehen habe, bedeuten. |

Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof.
| 7 Y vinieron magos, astrólogos, caldeos y adivinos, y les dije el sueño, pero no me pudieron mostrar su interpretación, | 7 Dies sind aber die Gesichte, die ich gesehen habe auf meinem Bett: Siehe, es stand ein Baum in der Mitte der Erde, der war sehr hoch. |

But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and before him I told the dream, saying,
| 8 hasta que entró delante de mí Daniel, cuyo nombre es Beltsasar, como el nombre de mi dios, y en quien mora el espíritu de los dioses santos. Conté delante de él el sueño, | 8 Und er wurde groß und mächtig, und seine Höhe reichte bis an den Himmel, und er war zu sehen bis ans Ende der ganzen Erde. |

O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.
| 9 Beltsasar, jefe de los magos, ya que he entendido que hay en ti espíritu de los dioses santos, y que ningún misterio se te esconde, declárame las visiones de mi sueño que he visto, y su interpretación. | 9 Sein Laub war dicht und seine Frucht reichlich, und er gab Nahrung für alle. Alle Tiere des Feldes fanden Schatten unter ihm, und die Vögel des Himmels saßen auf seinen Ästen, und alles Fleisch nährte sich von ihm. |

Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great.
| 10 Estas fueron las visiones de mi cabeza mientras estaba en mi cama: Me parecía ver en medio de la tierra un árbol, cuya altura era grande. | 10 Und ich sah ein Gesicht auf meinem Bett, und siehe, ein heiliger Wächter fuhr vom Himmel herab. |

The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth:
| 11 Crecía este árbol, y se hacía fuerte, y su copa llegaba hasta el cielo, y se le alcanzaba a ver desde todos los confines de la tierra. | 11 Der rief laut und sprach: Haut den Baum um und schlagt ihm die Äste weg, streift ihm das Laub ab und zerstreut seine Frucht, daß die Tiere, die unter ihm liegen, weglaufen und die Vögel von seinen Zweigen fliehen. |

The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it.
| 12 Su follaje era hermoso y su fruto abundante, y había en él alimento para todos. Debajo de él se ponían a la sombra las bestias del campo, y en sus ramas hacían morada las aves del cielo, y se mantenía de él toda carne. | 12 Doch laßt den Stock mit seinen Wurzeln in der Erde bleiben; er soll in eisernen und ehernen Ketten auf dem Felde im Grase und unter dem Tau des Himmels liegen und naß werden und soll sein Teil haben mit den Tieren am Gras auf der Erde. |

I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven;
| 13 Vi en las visiones de mi cabeza mientras estaba en mi cama, que he aquí un vigilante y santo descendía del cielo. | 13 Und das menschliche Herz soll von ihm genommen und ein tierisches Herz ihm gegeben werden, und sieben Zeiten sollen über ihn hingehen. |

He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:
| 14 Y clamaba fuertemente y decía así: Derribad el árbol, y cortad sus ramas, quitadle el follaje, y dispersad su fruto; váyanse las bestias que están debajo de él, y las aves de sus ramas. | 14 Dies ist im Rat der Wächter beschlossen und ist Gebot der Heiligen, damit die Lebenden erkennen, daß der Höchste Gewalt hat über die Königreiche der Menschen und sie geben kann, wem er will, und einen Niedrigen darüber setzen. |

Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:
| 15 Mas la cepa de sus raíces dejaréis en la tierra, con atadura de hierro y de bronce entre la hierba del campo; sea mojado con el rocío del cielo, y con las bestias sea su parte entre la hierba de la tierra. | 15 Solch einen Traum hab ich, König Nebukadnezar, gehabt; du aber, Beltschazar, sage, was er bedeutet. Denn alle Weisen in meinem Königreich können mir nicht kundtun, was er bedeutet; du aber kannst es, denn der Geist der heiligen Götter ist bei dir. |

Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.
| 16 Su corazón de hombre sea cambiado, y le sea dado corazón de bestia, y pasen sobre él siete tiempos. | 16 Da entsetzte sich Daniel, der auch Beltschazar heißt, eine Zeitlang, und seine Gedanken beunruhigten ihn. Aber der König sprach: Beltschazar, laß dich durch den Traum und seine Deutung nicht beunruhigen. Beltschazar fing an und sprach: Ach, mein Herr, daß doch der Traum deinen Feinden und seine Deutung deinen Widersachern gelte! |

This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
| 17 La sentencia es por decreto de los vigilantes, y por dicho de los santos la resolución, para que conozcan los vivientes que el Altísimo gobierna el reino de los hombres, y que a quien él quiere lo da, y constituye sobre él al más bajo de los hombres. | 17 Der Baum, den du gesehen hast, der groß und mächtig wurde und dessen Höhe an den Himmel reichte und der zu sehen war auf der ganzen Erde, |

This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.
| 18 Yo el rey Nabucodonosor he visto este sueño. Tú, pues, Beltsasar, dirás la interpretación de él, porque todos los sabios de mi reino no han podido mostrarme su interpretación; mas tú puedes, porque mora en ti el espíritu de los dioses santos. | 18 dessen Laub dicht und dessen Frucht reichlich war, so daß er Nahrung für alle gab, unter dem die Tiere des Feldes wohnten und auf dessen Ästen die Vögel des Himmels saßen - |

Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.
| 19 Entonces Daniel, cuyo nombre era Beltsasar, quedó atónito casi una hora, y sus pensamientos lo turbaban. El rey habló y dijo: Beltsasar, no te turben ni el sueño ni su interpretación. Beltsasar respondió y dijo: Señor mío, el sueño sea para tus enemigos, y su interpretación para los que mal te quieren. | 19 das bist du, König, der du so groß und mächtig bist; denn deine Macht ist groß und reicht bis an den Himmel und deine Gewalt bis ans Ende der Erde. |

The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;
| 20 El árbol que viste, que crecía y se hacía fuerte, y cuya copa llegaba hasta el cielo, y que se veía desde todos los confines de la tierra, | 20 Daß aber der König einen heiligen Wächter gesehen hat vom Himmel herabfahren, der sagte: "Haut den Baum um und zerstört ihn, doch den Stock mit seinen Wurzeln laßt in der Erde bleiben; er soll in eisernen und ehernen Ketten auf dem Felde im Grase und unter dem Tau des Himmels liegen und naß werden und mit den Tieren des Feldes zusammenleben, bis über ihn sieben Zeiten hingegangen sind"; |

Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:
| 21 cuyo follaje era hermoso, y su fruto abundante, y en que había alimento para todos, debajo del cual moraban las bestias del campo, y en cuyas ramas anidaban las aves del cielo, | 21 das, König, bedeutet - und zwar ergeht es als Ratschluß des Höchsten über meinen Herrn, den König -: |

It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.
| 22 tú mismo eres, oh rey, que creciste y te hiciste fuerte, pues creció tu grandeza y ha llegado hasta el cielo, y tu dominio hasta los confines de la tierra. | 22 man wird dich aus der Gemeinschaft der Menschen verstoßen, und du mußt bei den Tieren des Feldes bleiben, und man wird dich Gras fressen lassen wie die Rinder, und du wirst unter dem Tau des Himmels liegen und naß werden, und sieben Zeiten werden über dich hingehen, bis du erkennst, daß der Höchste Gewalt hat über die Königreiche der Menschen und sie gibt, wem er will. |

And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;
| 23 Y en cuanto a lo que vio el rey, un vigilante y santo que descendía del cielo y decía: Cortad el árbol y destruidlo; mas la cepa de sus raíces dejaréis en la tierra, con atadura de hierro y de bronce en la hierba del campo; y sea mojado con el rocío del cielo, y con las bestias del campo sea su parte, hasta que pasen sobre él siete tiempos; | 23 Wenn aber gesagt wurde, man solle dennoch den Stock des Baumes mit seinen Wurzeln übrig lassen, das bedeutet: dein Königreich soll dir erhalten bleiben, sobald du erkannt hast, daß der Himmel die Gewalt hat. |

This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:
| 24 esta es la interpretación, oh rey, y la sentencia del Altísimo, | 24 Darum, mein König, laß dir meinen Rat gefallen und mache dich los und ledig von deinen Sünden durch Gerechtigkeit und von deiner Missetat durch Wohltat an den Armen, so wird es dir lange wohlergehen. |

That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
| 25 Que te echarán de entre los hombres, y con las bestias del campo será tu morada, y con hierba del campo te apacentarán como a los bueyes, y con el rocío del cielo serás bañado; y siete tiempos pasarán sobre ti, hasta que conozcas que el Altísimo tiene dominio en el reino de los hombres, y que lo da a quien él quiere. | 25 Dies alles widerfuhr dem König Nebukadnezar. |

And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.
| 26 Y en cuanto a la orden de dejar en la tierra la cepa de las raíces del mismo árbol, significa que tu reino te quedará firme, luego que reconozcas que el cielo gobierna. | 26 Denn nach zwölf Monaten, als der König auf dem Dach des königlichen Palastes in Babel sich erging, |

Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.
| 27 Por tanto, oh rey, acepta mi consejo: tus pecados redime con justicia, y tus iniquidades haciendo misericordias para con los oprimidos, pues tal vez será eso una prolongación de tu tranquilidad. | 27 hob er an und sprach: Das ist das große Babel, das ich erbaut habe zur Königsstadt durch meine große Macht zu Ehren meiner Herrlichkeit. |

All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.

At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.
| 29 Al cabo de doce meses, paseando en el palacio real de Babilonia, | 29 man wird dich aus der Gemeinschaft der Menschen verstoßen, und du sollst bei den Tieren des Feldes bleiben; Gras wird man dich fressen lassen wie die Rinder, und sieben Zeiten sollen hingehen, bis du erkennst, daß der Höchste Gewalt hat über die Königreiche der Menschen und sie gibt, wem er will. |

The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
| 30 habló el rey y dijo: ¿No es ésta la gran Babilonia que yo edifiqué para casa real con la fuerza de mi poder, y para gloria de mi majestad? | 30 Im gleichen Augenblick wurde das Wort erfüllt an Nebukadnezar, und er wurde verstoßen aus der Gemeinschaft der Menschen, und er fraß Gras wie die Rinder, und sein Leib lag unter dem Tau des Himmels und wurde naß, bis sein Haar wuchs so groß wie Adlerfedern und seine Nägel wie Vogelklauen wurden. |

While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.
| 31 Aún estaba la palabra en la boca del rey, cuando vino una voz del cielo: A ti se te dice, rey Nabucodonosor: El reino ha sido quitado de ti; | 31 Nach dieser Zeit hob ich, Nebukadnezar, meine Augen auf zum Himmel, und mein Verstand kam mir wieder, und ich lobte den Höchsten. Ich pries und ehrte den, der ewig lebt, dessen Gewalt ewig ist und dessen Reich für und für währt, |

And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.
| 32 y de entre los hombres te arrojarán, y con las bestias del campo será tu habitación, y como a los bueyes te apacentarán; y siete tiempos pasarán sobre ti, hasta que reconozcas que el Altísimo tiene el dominio en el reino de los hombres, y lo da a quien él quiere. | 32 gegen den alle, die auf Erden wohnen, für nichts zu rechnen sind. Er macht's, wie er will, mit den Mächten im Himmel und mit denen, die auf Erden wohnen. Und niemand kann seiner Hand wehren noch zu ihm sagen: Was machst du? |

The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.
| 33 En la misma hora se cumplió la palabra sobre Nabucodonosor, y fue echado de entre los hombres; y comía hierba como los bueyes, y su cuerpo se mojaba con el rocío del cielo, hasta que su pelo creció como plumas de águila, y sus uñas como las de las aves. | 33 Zur selben Zeit kehrte mein Verstand zu mir zurück, und meine Herrlichkeit und mein Glanz kamen wieder an mich zur Ehre meines Königreichs. Und meine Räte und Mächtigen suchten mich auf, und ich wurde wieder über mein Königreich eingesetzt und gewann noch größere Herrlichkeit. |

And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:
| 34 Mas al fin del tiempo yo Nabucodonosor alcé mis ojos al cielo, y mi razón me fue devuelta; y bendije al Altísimo, y alabé y glorifiqué al que vive para siempre, cuyo dominio es sempiterno, y su reino por todas las edades. | 34 Darum lobe, ehre und preise ich, Nebukadnezar, den König des Himmels; denn all sein Tun ist Wahrheit, und seine Wege sind recht, und wer stolz ist, den kann er demütigen. |

And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?
| 35 Todos los habitantes de la tierra son considerados como nada; y él hace según su voluntad en el ejército del cielo, y en los habitantes de la tierra, y no hay quien detenga su mano, y le diga: ¿Qué haces? | |

At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my aBEL-MEHOLaH and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.
| 36 En el mismo tiempo mi razón me fue devuelta, y la majestad de mi reino, mi dignidad y mi grandeza volvieron a mí, y mis gobernadores y mis consejeros me buscaron; y fui restablecido en mi reino, y mayor grandeza me fue añadida. | |

Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase. | 37 Ahora yo Nabucodonosor alabo, engrandezco y glorifico al Rey del cielo, porque todas sus obras son verdaderas, y sus caminos justos; y él puede humillar a los que andan con soberbia. | |
