And after five days Ananias the high priest descended with the elders, and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul.

And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great quietness, and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy providence,
| 2 Y cuando éste fue llamado, Tértulo comenzó a acusarle, diciendo: Como debido a ti gozamos de gran paz, y muchas cosas son bien gobernadas en el pueblo por tu prudencia, | |

We accept it always, and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.
| 3 oh excelentísimo Félix, lo recibimos en todo tiempo y en todo lugar con toda gratitud. | |

Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou wouldest hear us of thy clemency a few words.
| 4 Pero por no molestarte más largamente, te ruego que nos oigas brevemente conforme a tu equidad. | |

For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
| 5 Porque hemos hallado que este hombre es una plaga, y promotor de sediciones entre todos los judíos por todo el mundo, y cabecilla de la secta de los nazarenos. | |

Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law.
| 6 Intentó también profanar el templo; y prendiéndole, quisimos juzgarle conforme a nuestra ley. | |

But the chief captain Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,
| 7 Pero interviniendo el tribuno Lisias, con gran violencia le quitó de nuestras manos, | |

Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom thyself mayest take knowledge of all these things, whereof we accuse him.
| 8 mandando a sus acusadores que viniesen a ti. Tú mismo, pues, al juzgarle, podrás informarte de todas estas cosas de que le acusamos. | |

And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.
| 9 Los judíos también confirmaban, diciendo ser así todo. | |

Then Paul, after that the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself:
| 10 Habiéndole hecho señal el gobernador a Pablo para que hablase, éste respondió: Porque sé que desde hace muchos años eres juez de esta nación, con buen ánimo haré mi defensa. | |

Because that thou mayest understand, that there are yet but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem for to worship.
| 11 Como tú puedes cerciorarte, no hace más de doce días que subí a adorar a Jerusalén; | |

And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city:
| 12 y no me hallaron disputando con ninguno, ni amotinando a la multitud; ni en el templo, ni en las sinagogas ni en la ciudad; | |

Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me.
| 13 ni te pueden probar las cosas de que ahora me acusan. | |

But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
| 14 Pero esto te confieso, que según el Camino que ellos llaman herejía, así sirvo al Dios de mis padres, creyendo todas las cosas que en la ley y en los profetas están escritas; | |

And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
| 15 teniendo esperanza en Dios, la cual ellos también abrigan, de que ha de haber resurrección de los muertos, así de justos como de injustos. | |

And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.
| 16 Y por esto procuro tener siempre una conciencia sin ofensa ante Dios y ante los hombres. | |

Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation, and offerings.
| 17 Pero pasados algunos años, vine a hacer limosnas a mi nación y presentar ofrendas. | |

Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult.
| 18 Estaba en ello, cuando unos judíos de Asia me hallaron purificado en el templo, no con multitud ni con alboroto. | |

Who ought to have been here before thee, and object, if they had ought against me.
| 19 Ellos debieran comparecer ante ti y acusarme, si contra mí tienen algo. | |

Or else let these same here say, if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,
| 20 O digan éstos mismos si hallaron en mí alguna cosa mal hecha, cuando comparecí ante el concilio, | |

Except it be for this one voice, that I cried standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead I am called in question by you this day.
| 21 a no ser que estando entre ellos prorrumpí en alta voz: Acerca de la resurrección de los muertos soy juzgado hoy por vosotros. | |

And when Felix heard these things, having more perfect knowledge of that way, he deferred them, and said, When Lysias the chief captain shall come down, I will know the uttermost of your matter.
| 22 Entonces Félix, oídas estas cosas, estando bien informado de este Camino, les aplazó, diciendo: Cuando descendiere el tribuno Lisias, acabaré de conocer de vuestro asunto. | |

And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul, and to let him have liberty, and that he should forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come unto him.
| 23 Y mandó al centurión que se custodiase a Pablo, pero que se le concediese alguna libertad, y que no impidiese a ninguno de los suyos servirle o venir a él. | |

And after certain days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, which was a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning the faith in Christ.
| 24 Algunos días después, viniendo Félix con Drusila su mujer, que era judía, llamó a Pablo, y le oyó acerca de la fe en Jesucristo. | |

And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.
| 25 Pero al disertar Pablo acerca de la justicia, del dominio propio y del juicio venidero, Félix se espantó, y dijo: Ahora vete; pero cuando tenga oportunidad te llamaré. | |

He hoped also that money should have been given him of Paul, that he might loose him: wherefore he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.
| 26 Esperaba también con esto, que Pablo le diera dinero para que le soltase; por lo cual muchas veces lo hacía venir y hablaba con él. | |

But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix's room: and Felix, willing to shew the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound. | 27 Pero al cabo de dos años recibió Félix por sucesor a Porcio Festo; y queriendo Félix congraciarse con los judíos, dejó preso a Pablo. | |
