Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
| 2 Gracia y paz os sean multiplicadas, en el conocimiento de Dios y de nuestro Señor Jesús. | 2 Gott gebe euch viel Gnade und Frieden durch die Erkenntnis Gottes und Jesu, unseres Herrn! |

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
| 3 Como todas las cosas que pertenecen a la vida y a la piedad nos han sido dadas por su divino poder, mediante el conocimiento de aquel que nos llamó por su gloria y excelencia, | 3 Alles, was zum Leben und zur Frömmigkeit dient, hat uns seine göttliche Kraft geschenkt durch die Erkenntnis dessen, der uns berufen hat durch seine Herrlichkeit und Kraft. |

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
| 4 por medio de las cuales nos ha dado preciosas y grandísimas promesas, para que por ellas llegaseis a ser participantes de la naturaleza divina, habiendo huido de la corrupción que hay en el mundo a causa de la concupiscencia; | 4 Durch sie sind uns die teuren und allergrößten Verheißungen geschenkt, damit ihr dadurch Anteil bekommt an der göttlichen Natur, die ihr entronnen seid der verderblichen Begierde in der Welt. |

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
| 7 a la piedad, afecto fraternal; y al afecto fraternal, amor. | 7 und in der Frömmigkeit brüderliche Liebe und in der brüderlichen Liebe die Liebe zu allen Menschen. |

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
| 8 Porque si estas cosas están en vosotros, y abundan, no os dejarán estar ociosos ni sin fruto en cuanto al conocimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. | 8 Denn wenn dies alles reichlich bei euch ist, wird's euch nicht faul und unfruchtbar sein lassen in der Erkenntnis unseres Herrn Jesus Christus. |

But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
| 9 Pero el que no tiene estas cosas tiene la vista muy corta; es ciego, habiendo olvidado la purificación de sus antiguos pecados. | 9 Wer dies aber nicht hat, der ist blind und tappt im Dunkeln und hat vergessen, daß er rein geworden ist von seinen früheren Sünden. |

Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
| 10 Por lo cual, hermanos, tanto más procurad hacer firme vuestra vocación y elección; porque haciendo estas cosas, no caeréis jamás. | 10 Darum, liebe Brüder, bemüht euch desto mehr, eure Berufung und Erwählung festzumachen. Denn wenn ihr dies tut, werdet ihr nicht straucheln, |

For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
| 11 Porque de esta manera os será otorgada amplia y generosa entrada en el reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo. | 11 und so wird euch reichlich gewährt werden der Eingang in das ewige Reich unseres Herrn und Heilands Jesus Christus. |

Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
| 12 Por esto, yo no dejaré de recordaros siempre estas cosas, aunque vosotros las sepáis, y estéis confirmados en la verdad presente. | 12 Darum will ich's nicht lassen, euch allezeit daran zu erinnern, obwohl ihr's wißt und gestärkt seid in der Wahrheit, die unter euch ist. |

Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
| 13 Pues tengo por justo, en tanto que estoy en este cuerpo, el despertaros con amonestación; | 13 Ich halte es aber für richtig, solange ich in dieser Hütte bin, euch zu erwecken und zu erinnern; |

Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
| 14 sabiendo que en breve debo abandonar el cuerpo, como nuestro Señor Jesucristo me ha declarado. | 14 denn ich weiß, daß ich meine Hütte bald verlassen muß, wie es mir auch unser Herr Jesus Christus eröffnet hat. |

Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
| 15 También yo procuraré con diligencia que después de mi partida vosotros podáis en todo momento tener memoria de estas cosas. | 15 Ich will mich aber bemühen, daß ihr dies allezeit auch nach meinem Hinscheiden im Gedächtnis behalten könnt. |

For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
| 16 Porque no os hemos dado a conocer el poder y la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo siguiendo fábulas artificiosas, sino como habiendo visto con nuestros propios ojos su majestad. | 16 Denn wir sind nicht ausgeklügelten Fabeln gefolgt, als wir euch kundgetan haben die Kraft und das Kommen unseres Herrn Jesus Christus; sondern wir haben seine Herrlichkeit selber gesehen. |

For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
| 17 Pues cuando él recibió de Dios Padre honra y gloria, le fue enviada desde la magnífica gloria una voz que decía: Este es mi Hijo amado, en el cual tengo complacencia. | 17 Denn er empfing von Gott, dem Vater, Ehre und Preis durch eine Stimme, die zu ihm kam von der großen Herrlichkeit: Dies ist mein lieber Sohn, an dem ich Wohlgefallen habe. |

And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
| 18 Y nosotros oímos esta voz enviada del cielo, cuando estábamos con él en el monte santo. | 18 Und diese Stimme haben wir gehört vom Himmel kommen, als wir mit ihm waren auf dem heiligen Berge. |

We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
| 19 Tenemos también la palabra profética más segura, a la cual hacéis bien en estar atentos como a una antorcha que alumbra en lugar oscuro, hasta que el día esclarezca y el lucero de la mañana salga en vuestros corazones; | 19 Um so fester haben wir das prophetische Wort, und ihr tut gut daran, daß ihr darauf achtet als auf ein Licht, das da scheint an einem dunklen Ort, bis der Tag anbreche und der Morgenstern aufgehe in euren Herzen. |

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
| 20 entendiendo primero esto, que ninguna profecía de la Escritura es de interpretación privada, | 20 Und das sollt ihr vor allem wissen, daß keine Weissagung in der Schrift eine Sache eigener Auslegung ist. |

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. | 21 porque nunca la profecía fue traída por voluntad humana, sino que los santos hombres de Dios hablaron siendo inspirados por el Espíritu Santo. | 21 Denn es ist noch nie eine Weissagung aus menschlichem Willen hervorgebracht worden, sondern getrieben von dem heiligen Geist haben Menschen im Namen Gottes geredet. |
