Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.

For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.

And they brake down the altars of Baalim in his presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strowed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.

And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem.
| 5 Quemó además los huesos de los sacerdotes sobre sus altares, y limpió a Judá y a Jerusalén. | 5 und verbrannte die Gebeine der Priester auf ihren Altären und reinigte so Juda und Jerusalem. |

And so did he in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about.

And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.

Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD his God.

And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.

And they put it in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of the LORD, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the house of the LORD, to repair and amend the house:
| 10 Y lo entregaron en mano de los que hacían la obra, que eran mayordomos en la casa de Jehová, los cuales lo daban a los que hacían la obra y trabajaban en la casa de Jehová, para reparar y restaurar el templo. | 10 Und sie gaben's in die Hände der Werkmeister, die bestellt waren am Hause des HERRN; und diese, die da arbeiteten am Hause des HERRN, daß sie das Haus ausbesserten und instand setzten, |

Even to the artificers and builders gave they it, to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
| 11 Daban asimismo a los carpinteros y canteros para que comprasen piedra de cantería, y madera para los armazones y para la entabladura de los edificios que habían destruido los reyes de Judá. | 11 gaben's den Zimmerleuten und Bauleuten, um gehauene Steine zu kaufen und Holz zu Klammern und Balken für die Gebäude, die die Könige von Juda hatten verfallen lassen. |

And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and other of the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of musick.
| 12 Y estos hombres procedían con fidelidad en la obra; y eran sus mayordomos Jahat y Abdías, levitas de los hijos de Merari, y Zacarías y Mesulam de los hijos de Coat, para que activasen la obra; y de los levitas, todos los entendidos en instrumentos de música. | 12 Und die Männer arbeiteten am Werk auf Treu und Glauben. Und es waren über sie gesetzt als Aufseher Jahat und Obadja, die Leviten von den Söhnen Merari, Secharja und Meschullam von den Söhnen der Kehatiter. Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and were overseers of all that wrought the work in any manner of service: and of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and porters.
| 13 También velaban sobre los cargadores, y eran mayordomos de los que se ocupaban en cualquier clase de obra; y de los levitas había escribas, gobernadores y porteros. | 13 waren über die Lastträger gesetzt und waren auch Aufseher über die Arbeiter bei jedem Werk; einige der Leviten waren Schreiber, Amtleute und Torhüter. |

And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the LORD, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the LORD given by Moses.
| 14 Y al sacar el dinero que había sido traído a la casa de Jehová, el sacerdote Hilcías halló el libro de la ley de Jehová dada por medio de Moisés. | 14 Und als sie das Geld herausnahmen, das zum Hause des HERRN gebracht worden war, fand der Priester Hilkija das Buch des Gesetzes des HERRN, das durch Mose gegeben war. |

And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.
| 15 Y dando cuenta Hilcías, dijo al escriba Safán: Yo he hallado el libro de la ley en la casa de Jehová. Y dio Hilcías el libro a Safán. | 15 Und Hilkija hob an und sprach zu dem Schreiber Schafan: Ich habe dies Gesetzbuch gefunden im Hause des HERRN. Und Hilkija gab das Buch Schafan. |

And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do it.
| 16 Y Safán lo llevó al rey, y le contó el asunto, diciendo: Tus siervos han cumplido todo lo que les fue encomendado. | 16 Schafan aber brachte es zum König und gab ihm Bericht und sprach: Alles, was deinen Knechten befohlen ist, tun sie. |

And they have gathered together the money that was found in the house of the LORD, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen.
| 17 Han reunido el dinero que se halló en la casa de Jehová, y lo han entregado en mano de los encargados, y en mano de los que hacen la obra. | 17 Sie haben das Geld ausgeschüttet, das im Hause des HERRN gesammelt ist, und haben's denen gegeben, die bestellt sind, und den Arbeitern. |

Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath given me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
| 18 Además de esto, declaró el escriba Safán al rey, diciendo: El sacerdote Hilcías me dio un libro. Y leyó Safán en él delante del rey. | 18 Und der Schreiber Schafan sagte dem König: Der Priester Hilkija hat mir ein Buch gegeben. Und Schafan las vor dem König daraus vor. |

And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.
| 19 Luego que el rey oyó las palabras de la ley, rasgó sus vestidos; | 19 Und als der König die Worte des Gesetzes hörte, zerriß er seine Kleider. |

And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king's, saying,
| 20 Y mandó a Hilcías y a Ahicam hijo de Safán, y a Abdón hijo de Micaía, y a Safán escriba, y a Asaías siervo del rey, | 20 Und der König gebot Hilkija und Ahikam, dem Sohn Schafans, und Achbor, dem Sohn Michajas, und Schafan, dem Schreiber, und Asaja, dem Kämmerer des Königs, und sprach: |

Go, enquire of the LORD for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do after all that is written in this book.
| 21 Andad, consultad a Jehová por mí y por el remanente de Israel y de Judá acerca de las palabras del libro que se ha hallado; porque grande es la ira de Jehová que ha caído sobre nosotros, por cuanto nuestros padres no guardaron la palabra de Jehová, para hacer conforme a todo lo que está escrito en este libro. | 21 Geht hin, befragt den HERRN für mich und für die Übriggebliebenen von Israel und Juda über die Worte des Buches, das gefunden ist; denn groß ist der Grimm des HERRN, der über uns entbrannt ist, weil unsere Väter nicht gehalten haben das Wort des HERRN und nicht alles taten, was geschrieben steht in diesem Buch. |

And Hilkiah, and they that the king had appointed, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college:) and they spake to her to that effect.
| 22 Entonces Hilcías y los del rey fueron a Hulda profetisa, mujer de Salum hijo de Ticva, hijo de Harhas, guarda de las vestiduras, la cual moraba en Jerusalén en el segundo barrio, y le dijeron las palabras antes dichas. | 22 Da ging Hilkija samt den andern, die der König gesandt hatte, hin zu der Prophetin Hulda, der Frau Schallums, des Sohnes Tokhats, des Sohnes Harhas, des Kleiderhüters, die in Jerusalem wohnte im zweiten Bezirk der Stadt, und sagten ihr dies. |

And she answered them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell ye the man that sent you to me,

Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:
| 24 He aquí yo traigo mal sobre este lugar, y sobre los moradores de él, todas las maldiciones que están escritas en el libro que leyeron delante del rey de Judá; | 24 So spricht der HERR: Siehe, ich will Unheil bringen über diesen Ort und seine Einwohner, alle die Flüche, die geschrieben stehen in dem Buch, aus dem man vor dem König von Juda gelesen hat, |

Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.
| 25 por cuanto me han dejado, y han ofrecido sacrificios dioses ajenos, provocándome a ira con todas las obras de sus manos; por tanto, se derramará mi ira sobre este lugar, y no se apagará. | 25 weil sie mich verlassen und andern Göttern geopfert haben, um mich zu erzürnen mit allen Werken ihrer Hände. Und mein Grimm soll über diesen Ort entbrennen und nicht ausgelöscht werden. |

And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to enquire of the LORD, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel concerning the words which thou hast heard;
| 26 Mas al rey de Judá, que os ha enviado a consultar a Jehová, así le diréis: Jehová el Dios de Israel ha dicho así: Por cuanto oíste las palabras del libro, | 26 Und zum König von Juda, der euch gesandt hat, den HERRN zu befragen, sollt ihr so sagen: So spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Was die Worte angeht, die du gehört hast: " |

Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the LORD.
| 27 y tu corazón se conmovió, y te humillaste delante de Dios al oír sus palabras sobre este lugar y sobre sus moradores, y te humillaste delante de mí, y rasgaste tus vestidos y lloraste en mi presencia, yo también te he oído, dice Jehová. | 27 Weil du im Herzen betroffen bist und dich gedemütigt hast vor Gott, als du seine Worte hörtest gegen diesen Ort und gegen seine Einwohner, und dich vor mir gedemütigt hast und deine Kleider zerrissen und vor mir geweint, so habe ich dich auch erhört, spricht der HERR. |

Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.
| 28 He aquí que yo te recogeré con tus padres, y serás recogido en tu sepulcro en paz, y tus ojos no verán todo el mal que yo traigo sobre este lugar y sobre los moradores de él. Y ellos refirieron al rey la respuesta. | 28 Siehe, ich will dich versammeln zu deinen Vätern, daß du mit Frieden in dein Grab kommst und deine Augen nicht sehen all das Unheil, das ich über diesen Ort und seine Einwohner bringen will. " Und sie sagten's dem König wieder. |

Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
| 29 Entonces el rey envió y reunió a todos los ancianos de Judá y de Jerusalén. | 29 Da sandte der König hin und ließ zusammenkommen alle Ältesten Judas und Jerusalems. |

And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD.
| 30 Y subió el rey a la casa de Jehová, y con él todos los varones de Judá, y los moradores de Jerusalén, los sacerdotes, los levitas y todo el pueblo, desde el mayor hasta el más pequeńo; y leyó a oídos de ellos todas las palabras del libro del pacto que había sido hallado en la casa de Jehová. | 30 Und der König ging hinauf ins Haus des HERRN und alle Männer Judas und die Einwohner von Jerusalem, die Priester, die Leviten und alles Volk, klein und groß, und es wurden vor ihren Ohren gelesen alle Worte aus dem Buch des Bundes, das im Hause des HERRN gefunden war. |

And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.
| 31 Y estando el rey en pie en su sitio, hizo delante de Jehová pacto de caminar en pos de Jehová y de guardar sus mandamientos, sus testimonios y sus estatutos, con todo su corazón y con toda su alma, poniendo por obra las palabras del pacto que estaban escritas en aquel libro. | 31 Und der König trat an seinen Platz und schloß einen Bund vor dem HERRN, daß man dem HERRN nachwandeln und seine Gebote, Ordnungen und Rechte von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele halten wolle, zu tun nach allen Worten des Bundes, die geschrieben stehen in diesem Buch. |

And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
| 32 E hizo que se obligaran a ello todos los que estaban en Jerusalén y en Benjamín; y los moradores de Jerusalén hicieron conforme al pacto de Dios, del Dios de sus padres. | 32 Und er ließ hintreten alle, die in Jerusalem und in Benjamin waren. Und die Einwohner von Jerusalem taten nach dem Bund Gottes, des Gottes ihrer Väter. |

And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve the LORD their God. And all his days they departed not from following the LORD, the God of their fathers. | 33 Y quitó Josías todas las abominaciones de toda la tierra de los hijos de Israel, e hizo que todos los que se hallaban en Israel sirviesen a Jehová su Dios. No se apartaron de en pos de Jehová el Dios de sus padres, todo el tiempo que él vivió. | 33 Und Josia entfernte alle greulichen Götzen aus allen Gebieten Israels und brachte es dahin, daß alle in Israel dem HERRN, ihrem Gott, dienten. Solange Josia lebte, wichen sie nicht von dem HERRN, dem Gott ihrer Väter. |
