Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.

Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.
| 3 Y luego que fue confirmado en el reino, mató a los siervos que habían matado al rey su padre. | 3 Als er nun das Königtum fest in der Hand hatte, tötete er seine Großen, die den König, seinen Vater, erschlagen hatten. |

But he slew not their children, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.
| 4 Pero no mató a los hijos de ellos, según lo que está escrito en la ley, en el libro de Moisés, donde Jehová mandó diciendo: No morirán los padres por los hijos, ni los hijos por los padres; mas cada uno morirá por su pecado. | 4 Aber ihre Söhne tötete er nicht; denn so steht es geschrieben im Gesetz, im Buch des Mose, wo der HERR gebietet: Die Väter sollen nicht sterben für die Kinder und die Kinder nicht für die Väter, sondern ein jeder soll nur um seiner Sünde willen sterben. |

Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.
| 5 Reunió luego Amasías a Judá, y con arreglo a las familias les puso jefes de millares y de centenas sobre todo Judá y Benjamín. Después puso en lista a todos los de veinte ańos arriba, y fueron hallados trescientos mil escogidos para salir a la guerra, que tenían lanza y escudo. | 5 Und Amazja bot Juda auf und ordnete sie, ganz Juda und Benjamin, nach ihren Sippen unter die Obersten über tausend und unter die Hauptleute über hundert und musterte sie von zwanzig Jahren an und darüber, und es fanden sich dreihunderttausend auserlesene Leute, die in den Krieg ziehen und Spieß und Schild führen konnten. |

He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver.
| 6 Y de Israel tomó a sueldo por cien talentos de plata, a cien mil hombres valientes. | 6 Dazu warb er aus Israel hunderttausend Kriegsleute für hundert Zentner Silber. |

But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim.
| 7 Mas un varón de Dios vino a él y le dijo: Rey, no vaya contigo el ejército de Israel; porque Jehová no está con Israel, ni con todos los hijos de Efraín. | 7 Es kam aber ein Mann Gottes zu ihm und sprach: König, laß nicht das Heer Israels mit dir ziehen, denn der HERR ist nicht mit Israel, mit allen Männern von Ephraim; |

But if thou wilt go, do it, be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.
| 8 Pero si vas así, si lo haces, y te esfuerzas para pelear, Dios te hará caer delante de los enemigos; porque en Dios está el poder, o para ayudar, o para derribar. | 8 denn wenn du denkst, mit ihnen stark zu sein zum Kampf, so wird Gott dich vor den Feinden fallen lassen. Denn bei Gott steht die Kraft zu helfen und fallen zu lassen. |

And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.
| 9 Y Amasías dijo al varón de Dios: żQué, pues, se hará de los cien talentos que he dado al ejército de Israel? Y el varón de Dios respondió: Jehová puede darte mucho más que esto. | 9 Amazja sprach zu dem Mann Gottes: Was soll man dann tun mit den hundert Zentnern, die ich den Kriegsleuten aus Israel gegeben habe? Der Mann Gottes sprach: Es steht beim HERRN, dir mehr zu geben als dies. |

Then Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger.
| 10 Entonces Amasías apartó el ejército de la gente que había venido a él de Efraín, para que se fuesen a sus casas; y ellos se enojaron grandemente contra Judá, y volvieron a sus casas encolerizados. | 10 Da sonderte Amazja die Kriegsleute ab, die zu ihm aus Ephraim gekommen waren, daß sie wieder heimkehrten. Da entbrannte ihr Zorn sehr gegen Juda, und sie zogen zurück an ihren Ort mit grimmigem Zorn. |

And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.
| 11 Esforzándose entonces Amasías, sacó a su pueblo, y vino al Valle de la Sal, y mató de los hijos de Seir diez mil. | 11 Und Amazja ward getrost und führte sein Volk aus und zog ins Salztal und erschlug zehntausend Männer von Seďr. |

And other ten thousand left alive did the children of Judah carry away captive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they all were broken in pieces.
| 12 Y los hijos de Judá tomaron vivos a otros diez mil, los cuales llevaron a la cumbre de un peńasco, y de allí los despeńaron, y todos se hicieron pedazos. | 12 Und die Männer von Juda fingen zehntausend von ihnen lebendig; die führten sie auf die Spitze eines Felsens und stürzten sie von der Spitze des Felsens, daß sie alle zerschellten. |

But the soldiers of the army which Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-horon, and smote three thousand of them, and took much spoil.
| 13 Mas los del ejército que Amasías había despedido, para que no fuesen con él a la guerra, invadieron las ciudades de Judá, desde Samaria hasta Bet-horón, y mataron a tres mil de ellos, y tomaron gran despojo. | 13 Aber die Kriegsleute, die Amazja hatte ziehen lassen, daß sie nicht mit seinem Volk in den Kampf zögen, fielen in die Städte Judas ein von Samaria bis nach Bet- Horon und erschlugen dreitausend Mann von ihnen und gewannen viel Beute. |

Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.
| 14 Volviendo luego Amasías de la matanza de los edomitas, trajo también consigo los dioses de los hijos de Seir, y los puso ante sí por dioses, y los adoró, y les quemó incienso. | 14 Und als Amazja vom Siege über die Edomiter wiederkam, brachte er die Götter der Leute von Seďr mit und stellte sie sich als Götter auf und betete sie an und opferte ihnen. |

Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand?
| 15 Por esto se encendió la ira de Jehová contra Amasías, y envió a él un profeta, que le dijo: żPor qué has buscado los dioses de otra nación, que no libraron a su pueblo de tus manos? | 15 Da entbrannte der Zorn des HERRN über Amazja, und er sandte einen Propheten zu ihm. Der sprach zu ihm: Warum suchst du die Götter des Volks, die ihr Volk nicht aus deiner Hand erretten konnten? |

And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king's counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.
| 16 Y hablándole el profeta estas cosas, él le respondió: żTe han puesto a ti por consejero del rey? Déjate de eso. żPor qué quieres que te maten? Y cuando terminó de hablar, el profeta dijo luego: Yo sé que Dios ha decretado destruirte, porque has hecho esto, y no obedeciste mi consejo. | 16 Und als er so mit ihm redete, sprach der König zu ihm: Hat man dich zu des Königs Ratgeber gemacht? Höre auf! Warum willst du getötet werden? Da hörte der Prophet auf und sprach: Ich merke wohl, daß Gott beschlossen hat, dich zu verderben, weil du solches getan und auf meinen Rat nicht gehört hast. |

Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us see one another in the face.
| 17 Y Amasías rey de Judá, después de tomar consejo, envió a decir a Joás hijo de Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel: Ven, y veámonos cara a cara. | 17 Und Amazja, der König von Juda, entschloß sich, hinzusenden zu Joasch, dem Sohn des Joahas, des Sohnes Jehus, dem König von Israel, und ließ ihm sagen: Komm, wir wollen uns miteinander messen! |

And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.
| 18 Entonces Joás rey de Israel envió a decir a Amasías rey de Judá: El cardo que estaba en el Líbano envió al cedro que estaba en el Líbano, diciendo: Da tu hija a mi hijo por mujer. Y he aquí que las fieras que estaban en el Líbano pasaron, y hollaron el cardo. | 18 Aber Joasch, der König von Israel, sandte zu Amazja, dem König von Juda, und antwortete ihm: Der Dornstrauch im Libanon sandte zur Zeder im Libanon und ließ ihr sagen: Gib deine Tochter meinem Sohn zur Frau! Aber das Wild im Libanon lief über den Dornstrauch und zertrat ihn. |

Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten the Edomites; and thine heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?
| 19 Tú dices: He aquí he derrotado a Edom; y tu corazón se enaltece para gloriarte. Quédate ahora en tu casa. żPara qué provocas un mal en que puedas caer tú y Judá contigo? | 19 Du denkst: Siehe, ich habe die Edomiter geschlagen. Darüber erhebt sich dein Herz, und du suchst noch mehr Ruhm. Bleib doch daheim. Warum suchst du dein Unglück, daß du zu Fall kommst und Juda mit dir? |

But Amaziah would not hear; for it came of God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they sought after the gods of Edom.
| 20 Mas Amasías no quiso oír; porque era la voluntad de Dios, que los quería entregar en manos de sus enemigos, por cuanto habían buscado los dioses de Edom. | 20 Aber Amazja hörte nicht darauf; denn es geschah von Gott, um sie in die Hand des Joasch zu geben, weil sie die Götter der Edomiter gesucht hatten. |

So Joash the king of Israel went up; and they saw one another in the face, both he and Amaziah king of Judah, at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
| 21 Subió, pues, Joás rey de Israel, y se vieron cara a cara él y Amasías rey de Judá en la batalla de Bet-semes, la cual es de Judá. | 21 Da zog Joasch, der König von Israel, herauf, und sie maßen sich miteinander, er und Amazja, der König von Juda, bei Bet-Schemesch, das in Juda liegt. |

And Judah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fled every man to his tent.
| 22 Pero cayó Judá delante de Israel, y huyó cada uno a su casa. | 22 Aber Juda wurde vor Israel her geschlagen, und sie flohen, ein jeder in sein Haus. |

And Joash the king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
| 23 Y Joás rey de Israel apresó en Bet-semes a Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joás, hijo de Joacaz, y lo llevó a Jerusalén; y derribó el muro de Jerusalén desde la puerta de Efraín hasta la puerta del ángulo, un tramo de cuatrocientos codos. | 23 Aber Amazja, den Sohn des Joasch, den König von Juda, nahm Joasch, der Sohn des Joahas, der König von Israel, bei Bet-Schemesch gefangen und brachte ihn nach Jerusalem und riß die Mauer von Jerusalem ein vom Tor Ephraim bis an das Ecktor, vierhundert Ellen lang. |

And he took all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king's house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.
| 24 Asimismo tomó todo el oro y la plata, y todos los utensilios que se hallaron en la casa de Dios en casa de Obed-edom, y los tesoros de la casa del rey, y los hijos de los nobles; después volvió a Samaria. | 24 Und alles Gold und Silber und alle Geräte, die im Hause Gottes unter der Obhut von Obed-Edom vorhanden waren, und die Schätze im Hause des Königs und die Geiseln nahm er mit sich nach Samaria. |

And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.

Now the rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, behold, are they not written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel?

Now after the time that Amaziah did turn away from following the LORD they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent to Lachish after him, and slew him there.
| 27 Desde el tiempo en que Amasías se apartó de Jehová, empezaron a conspirar contra él en Jerusalén; y habiendo él huido a Laquis, enviaron tras él a Laquis, y allá lo mataron; | 27 Und von der Zeit an, da Amazja von dem HERRN wich, machten sie eine Verschwörung gegen ihn in Jerusalem. Er aber floh nach Lachisch. Da sandten sie hinter ihm her nach Lachisch und töteten ihn dort. |

And they brought him upon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah. | 28 y lo trajeron en caballos, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en la ciudad de Judá. | 28 Und sie brachten ihn auf Rossen und begruben ihn bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids. |
