Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Zibiah of Beer-sheba.

And Joash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all the days of Jehoiada the priest.

And Jehoiada took for him two wives; and he begat sons and daughters.

And it came to pass after this, that Joash was minded to repair the house of the LORD.

And he gathered together the priests and the Levites, and said to them, Go out unto the cities of Judah, and gather of all Israel money to repair the house of your God from year to year, and see that ye hasten the matter. Howbeit the Levites hastened it not.
| 5 Y reunió a los sacerdotes y los levitas, y les dijo: Salid por las ciudades de Judá, y recoged dinero de todo Israel, para que cada ańo sea reparada la casa de vuestro Dios; y vosotros poned diligencia en el asunto. Pero los levitas no pusieron diligencia. | 5 und versammelte die Priester und Leviten und sprach zu ihnen: Zieht hin in alle Städte Judas und sammelt Geld aus ganz Israel, um jährlich das Haus eures Gottes auszubessern, und eilet, solches zu tun! Aber die Leviten eilten nicht. |

And the king called for Jehoiada the chief, and said unto him, Why hast thou not required of the Levites to bring in out of Judah and out of Jerusalem the collection, according to the commandment of Moses the servant of the LORD, and of the congregation of Israel, for the tabernacle of witness?
| 6 Por lo cual el rey llamó al sumo sacerdote Joiada y le dijo: żPor qué no has procurado que los levitas traigan de Judá y de Jerusalén la ofrenda que Moisés siervo de Jehová impuso a la congregación de Israel para el tabernáculo del testimonio? | 6 Da rief der König den Hohenpriester Jojada und sprach zu ihm: Warum hast du nicht acht auf die Leviten, daß sie von Juda und Jerusalem die Steuer einbringen, die Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, und die Gemeinde für die Stiftshütte zu sammeln Israel geboten haben? |

For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God; and also all the dedicated things of the house of the LORD did they bestow upon Baalim.
| 7 Porque la impía Atalía y sus hijos habían destruido la casa de Dios, y además habían gastado en los ídolos todas las cosas consagradas de la casa de Jehová. | 7 Denn die gottlose Atalja und ihre Söhne haben das Haus Gottes verfallen lassen, und alles, was dem Hause des HERRN geheiligt war, haben sie an die Baale gebracht. |

And at the king's commandment they made a chest, and set it without at the gate of the house of the LORD.
| 8 Mandó, pues, el rey que hiciesen un arca, la cual pusieron fuera, a la puerta de la casa de Jehová; | 8 Da befahl der König, daß man eine Lade machte, und man stellte sie außen ins Tor am Hause des HERRN; |

And they made a proclamation through Judah and Jerusalem, to bring in to the LORD the collection that Moses the servant of God laid upon Israel in the wilderness.
| 9 e hicieron pregonar en Judá y en Jerusalén, que trajesen a Jehová la ofrenda que Moisés siervo de Dios había impuesto a Israel en el desierto. | 9 und sie ließen in Juda und Jerusalem ausrufen, daß man dem HERRN die Steuer bringen solle, die in der Wüste von Mose, dem Knecht Gottes, auf Israel gelegt war. |

And all the princes and all the people rejoiced, and brought in, and cast into the chest, until they had made an end.
| 10 Y todos los jefes y todo el pueblo se gozaron, y trajeron ofrendas, y las echaron en el arca hasta llenarla. | 10 Da freuten sich alle Oberen und alles Volk und brachten's und warfen's in die Lade, bis sie voll wurde. |

Now it came to pass, that at what time the chest was brought unto the king's office by the hand of the Levites, and when they saw that there was much money, the king's scribe and the high priest's officer came and emptied the chest, and took it, and carried it to his place again. Thus they did day by day, and gathered money in abundance.
| 11 Y cuando venía el tiempo para llevar el arca al secretario del rey por mano de los levitas, cuando veían que había mucho dinero, venía el escriba del rey, y el que estaba puesto por el sumo sacerdote, y llevaban el arca, y la vaciaban, y la volvían a su lugar. Así lo hacían de día en día, y recogían mucho dinero, | 11 Und wenn man die Lade durch die Leviten zur Verwaltung des Königs brachte und man sah, daß viel Geld darin war, so kam der Schreiber des Königs und der Beauftragte des Hohenpriesters, und man schüttete die Lade aus, und sie trugen sie wieder hin an ihren Ort. So taten sie alle Tage und brachten viel Geld zusammen. |

And the king and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and hired masons and carpenters to repair the house of the LORD, and also such as wrought iron and brass to mend the house of the LORD.
| 12 y el rey y Joiada lo daban a los que hacían el trabajo del servicio de la casa de Jehová; y tomaban canteros y carpinteros que reparasen la casa de Jehová, y artífices en hierro y bronce para componer la casa. | 12 Und der König und Jojada gaben es den Werkmeistern, die am Hause des HERRN arbeiteten. Diese stellten Steinmetzen und Zimmerleute an, um das Haus des HERRN zu erneuern, und auch Meister in Eisen und Kupfer, um das Haus des HERRN auszubessern. |

So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in his state, and strengthened it.
| 13 Hacían, pues, los artesanos la obra, y por sus manos la obra fue restaurada, y restituyeron la casa de Dios a su antigua condición, y la consolidaron. | 13 Und die Werkmeister sorgten dafür, daß durch sie die Ausbesserung fortschritt, und so stellten sie das Haus Gottes nach seinem alten Maß wieder her. |

And when they had finished it, they brought the rest of the money before the king and Jehoiada, whereof were made vessels for the house of the LORD, even vessels to minister, and to offer withal, and spoons, and vessels of gold and silver. And they offered burnt offerings in the house of the LORD continually all the days of Jehoiada.
| 14 Y cuando terminaron, trajeron al rey y a Joiada lo que quedaba del dinero, e hicieron de él utensilios para la casa de Jehová, utensilios para el servicio, morteros, cucharas, vasos de oro y de plata. Y sacrificaban holocaustos continuamente en la casa de Jehová todos los días de Joiada. | 14 Und als sie es vollendet hatten, brachten sie das übrige Geld vor den König und Jojada. Davon machte man Geräte für das Haus des HERRN, Geräte für den Dienst und für die Brandopfer, Löffel und goldene und silberne Geräte. Und sie opferten Brandopfer im Hause des HERRN allezeit, solange Jojada lebte. |

But Jehoiada waxed old, and was full of days when he died; an hundred and thirty years old was he when he died.

And they buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God, and toward his house.
| 16 Y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David con los reyes, por cuanto había hecho bien con Israel, y para con Dios, y con su casa. | 16 Und sie begruben ihn in der Stadt Davids bei den Königen, weil er an Israel und an Gott und seinem Hause wohlgetan hatte. |

Now after the death of Jehoiada came the princes of Judah, and made obeisance to the king. Then the king hearkened unto them.

And they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers, and served groves and idols: and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem for this their trespass.
| 18 Y desampararon la casa de Jehová el Dios de sus padres, y sirvieron a los símbolos de Asera y a las imágenes esculpidas. Entonces la ira de Dios vino sobre Judá y Jerusalén por este su pecado. | 18 Und sie verließen das Haus des HERRN, des Gottes ihrer Väter, und dienten den Bildern der Aschera und den Götzen. Da kam der Zorn über Juda und Jerusalem um dieser ihrer Schuld willen. |

Yet he sent prophets to them, to bring them again unto the LORD; and they testified against them: but they would not give ear.
| 19 Y les envió profetas para que los volviesen a Jehová, los cuales les amonestaron; mas ellos no los escucharon. | 19 Der HERR aber sandte Propheten zu ihnen, daß sie sich zum HERRN bekehren sollten, und sie ermahnten sie, aber sie nahmen's nicht zu Ohren. |

And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest, which stood above the people, and said unto them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the commandments of the LORD, that ye cannot prosper? because ye have forsaken the LORD, he hath also forsaken you.
| 20 Entonces el Espíritu de Dios vino sobre Zacarías hijo del sacerdote Joiada; y puesto en pie, donde estaba más alto que el pueblo, les dijo: Así ha dicho Dios: żPor qué quebrantáis los mandamientos de Jehová? No os vendrá bien por ello; porque por haber dejado a Jehová, él también os abandonará. | 20 Und der Geist Gottes ergriff Secharja, den Sohn des Priesters Jojada. Der trat vor das Volk und sprach zu ihnen: So spricht Gott: Warum übertretet ihr die Gebote des HERRN, so daß ihr kein Gelingen habt? Denn ihr habt den HERRN verlassen, darum wird er euch auch verlassen. |

And they conspired against him, and stoned him with stones at the commandment of the king in the court of the house of the LORD.
| 21 Pero ellos hicieron conspiración contra él, y por mandato del rey lo apedrearon hasta matarlo, en el patio de la casa de Jehová. | 21 Aber sie machten eine Verschwörung gegen ihn und steinigten ihn auf Befehl des Königs im Vorhof am Hause des HERRN. |

Thus Joash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, The LORD look upon it, and require it.
| 22 Así el rey Joás no se acordó de la misericordia que Joiada padre de Zacarías había hecho con él, antes mató a su hijo, quien dijo al morir: Jehová lo vea y lo demande. | 22 Und der König Joasch gedachte nicht an die Barmherzigkeit, die Jojada, der Vater Secharjas, an ihm getan hatte, sondern tötete seinen Sohn. And it came to pass at the end of the year, that the host of Syria came up against him: and they came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the princes of the people from among the people, and sent all the spoil of them unto the king of Damascus.
| 23 A la vuelta del ańo subió contra él el ejército de Siria; y vinieron a Judá y a Jerusalén, y destruyeron en el pueblo a todos los principales de él, y enviaron todo el botín al rey a Damasco. | 23 Und als das Jahr um war, zog herauf das Heer der Aramäer, und sie kamen nach Juda und Jerusalem und brachten alle Oberen im Volk um, und all ihren Raub sandten sie dem König von Damaskus. |

For the army of the Syrians came with a small company of men, and the LORD delivered a very great host into their hand, because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. So they executed judgment against Joash.
| 24 Porque aunque el ejército de Siria había venido con poca gente, Jehová entregó en sus manos un ejército muy numeroso, por cuanto habían dejado a Jehová el Dios de sus padres. Así ejecutaron juicios contra Joás. | 24 Denn obwohl das Heer der Aramäer mit wenigen Männern kam, gab der HERR ein sehr großes Heer in ihre Hand, weil Juda den HERRN, den Gott ihrer Väter, verlassen hatte. Damit vollzogen sie an Joasch die Strafe. |

And when they were departed from him, (for they left him in great diseases,) his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and slew him on his bed, and he died: and they buried him in the city of David, but they buried him not in the sepulchres of the kings.
| 25 Y cuando se fueron los sirios, lo dejaron agobiado por sus dolencias; y conspiraron contra él sus siervos a causa de la sangre de los hijos de Joiada el sacerdote, y lo hirieron en su cama, y murió. Y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David, pero no en los sepulcros de los reyes. | 25 Und als sie von ihm zogen, ließen sie ihn in großer Krankheit zurück. Es machten aber seine Großen eine Verschwörung gegen ihn um der Blutschuld willen an dem Sohn des Priesters Jojada und töteten ihn auf seinem Bett, und er starb. Und man begrub ihn in der Stadt Davids, aber nicht in den Gräbern der Könige. |

And these are they that conspired against him; Zabad the son of Shimeath an Ammonitess, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith a Moabitess.

Now concerning his sons, and the greatness of the burdens laid upon him, and the repairing of the house of God, behold, they are written in the story of the book of the kings. And Amaziah his son reigned in his stead. | 27 En cuanto a los hijos de Joás, y la multiplicación que hizo de las rentas, y la restauración de la casa de Jehová, he aquí está escrito en la historia del libro de los reyes. Y reinó en su lugar Amasías su hijo. | 27 Aber seine Söhne und die Menge der Steuern, die er veranlaßte, und der Bau des Hauses Gottes, siehe, das steht geschrieben in den Geschichten im Buch der Könige.
