So Abijah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In his days the land was quiet ten years.

And Asa did that which was good and right in the eyes of the LORD his God:

For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:
| 3 Porque quitó los altares del culto extraño, y los lugares altos; quebró las imágenes, y destruyó los símbolos de Asera; | 3 und gebot Juda, daß sie den HERRN, den Gott ihrer Väter, suchten und täten nach dem Gesetz und Gebot. |

And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.
| 4 y mandó a Judá que buscase a Jehová el Dios de sus padres, y pusiese por obra la ley y los mandamientos. | 4 Und er entfernte aus allen Städten Judas die Opferhöhen und die Rauchopfersäulen; und das Königreich hatte Ruhe unter ihm. |

Also he took away out of all the cities of Judah the high places and the images: and the kingdom was quiet before him.
| 5 Quitó asimismo de todas las ciudades de Judá los lugares altos y las imágenes; y estuvo el reino en paz bajo su reinado. | 5 Und er baute feste Städte in Juda, weil das Land Ruhe hatte und in diesen Jahren kein Krieg gegen ihn war; denn der HERR hatte ihm Ruhe gegeben. |

And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest.
| 6 Y edificó ciudades fortificadas en Judá, por cuanto había paz en la tierra, y no había guerra contra él en aquellos tiempos; porque Jehová le había dado paz. | 6 Und er sprach zu Juda: Laßt uns diese Städte ausbauen und um sie Mauern herumführen mit Türmen, Toren und Riegeln, solange das Land noch unser ist; denn wir haben den HERRN, unsern Gott, gesucht, und er hat uns Ruhe gegeben ringsumher. - Also bauten sie, und es ging glücklich vonstatten. |

Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.
| 7 Dijo, por tanto, a Judá: Edifiquemos estas ciudades, y cerquémoslas de muros con torres, puertas y barras, ya que la tierra es nuestra; porque hemos buscado a Jehová nuestro Dios; le hemos buscado, y él nos ha dado paz por todas partes. Edificaron, pues, y fueron prosperados. | 7 Und Asa hatte eine Heeresmacht, aus Juda dreihunderttausend, die große Schilde und Spieße trugen, und aus Benjamin zweihundertachtzigtausend, die kleine Schilde trugen und mit dem Bogen schießen konnten; und diese alle waren starke Kriegsleute. |

And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.
| 8 Tuvo también Asa ejército que traía escudos y lanzas; de Judá trescientos mil, y de Benjamín doscientos ochenta mil que traían escudos y entesaban arcos, todos hombres diestros. | 8 Es zog aber gegen sie Serach, der Kuschiter, mit einer Heeresmacht von tausendmal tausend, dazu dreihundert Wagen, und sie kamen bis nach Marescha. |

And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah.
| 9 Y salió contra ellos Zera etíope con un ejército de un millón de hombres y trescientos carros; y vino hasta Maresa. | 9 Und Asa zog ihm entgegen; und sie rüsteten sich zum Kampf im Tal Zefata bei Marescha. |

Then Asa went out against him, and they set the battle in array in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.
| 10 Entonces salió Asa contra él, y ordenaron la batalla en el valle de Sefata junto a Maresa. | 10 Und Asa rief den HERRN, seinen Gott, an und sprach: HERR, es ist dir nicht schwer, dem Schwachen gegen den Starken zu helfen. Hilf uns, HERR, unser Gott; denn wir verlassen uns auf dich, und in deinem Namen sind wir gekommen gegen diese Menge. HERR, du bist unser Gott, gegen dich vermag kein Mensch etwas. |

And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.
| 11 Y clamó Asa a Jehová su Dios, y dijo: ¡Oh Jehová, para ti no hay diferencia alguna en dar ayuda al poderoso o al que no tiene fuerzas! Ayúdanos, oh Jehová Dios nuestro, porque en ti nos apoyamos, y en tu nombre venimos contra este ejército. Oh Jehová, tú eres nuestro Dios; no prevalezca contra ti el hombre. | 11 Und der HERR schlug die Kuschiter vor Asa und vor Juda, so daß sie flohen. |

So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.
| 12 Y Jehová deshizo a los etíopes delante de Asa y delante de Judá; y huyeron los etíopes. | 12 Und Asa samt dem Volk, das bei ihm war, jagte ihnen nach bis nach Gerar. Und die Kuschiter fielen, so daß keiner von ihnen am Leben blieb, sondern sie wurden zerschlagen vor dem HERRN und vor seinem Heer. Und Juda trug sehr viel Beute davon. |

And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the LORD, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil.
| 13 Y Asa, y el pueblo que con él estaba, los persiguieron hasta Gerar; y cayeron los etíopes hasta no quedar en ellos aliento, porque fueron deshechos delante de Jehová y de su ejército. Y les tomaron muy grande botín. | 13 Und sie schlugen alle Städte um Gerar her; denn der Schrecken des HERRN kam über sie. Und sie plünderten alle Städte; denn es war viel Beute darin. |

And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the LORD came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them.
| 14 Atacaron también todas las ciudades alrededor de Gerar, porque el terror de Jehová cayó sobre ellas; y saquearon todas las ciudades, porque había en ellas gran botín. | 14 Auch schlugen sie die Zeltlager der Hirten und führten eine Menge Schafe und Kamele weg und kamen wieder nach Jerusalem. |

They smote also the tents of cattle, and carried away sheep and camels in abundance, and returned to Jerusalem. | 15 Asimismo atacaron las cabañas de los que tenían ganado, y se llevaron muchas ovejas y camellos, y volvieron a Jerusalén. | |
