And Ben-hadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots: and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it.

And he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the city, and said unto him, Thus saith Ben-hadad,
| 2 Y envió mensajeros a la ciudad a Acab rey de Israel, | 2 und sandte Boten zu Ahab, dem König von Israel, in die Stadt und ließ ihm sagen: |

Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine.
| 3 Así ha dicho Ben-adad: Tu plata y tu oro son míos, y tus mujeres y tus hijos hermosos son míos. | 3 So spricht Ben-Hadad: Dein Silber und dein Gold ist mein, und deine Frauen und deine besten Söhne sind auch mein. |

And the king of Israel answered and said, My lord, O king, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I have.
| 4 Y el rey de Israel respondió y dijo: Como tú dices, rey señor mío, yo soy tuyo, y todo lo que tengo. | 4 Der König von Israel antwortete und sprach: Mein Herr und König, wie du geredet hast! Ich bin dein und alles, was ich habe. |

And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaketh Ben-hadad, saying, Although I have sent unto thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy children;
| 5 Volviendo los mensajeros otra vez, dijeron: Así dijo Ben-adad: Yo te envié a decir: Tu plata y tu oro, y tus mujeres y tus hijos me darás. | 5 Aber die Boten kamen zurück und sprachen: So spricht Ben-Hadad: Ich habe zu dir gesandt und sagen lassen: Dein Silber und dein Gold, deine Frauen und deine Söhne sollst du mir geben. |

Yet I will send my servants unto thee to morrow about this time, and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away.
| 6 Además, mañana a estas horas enviaré yo a ti mis siervos, los cuales registrarán tu casa, y las casas de tus siervos; y tomarán y llevarán todo lo precioso que tengas. | 6 Doch will ich morgen um diese Zeit meine Leute zu dir senden, daß sie dein Haus und die Häuser deiner Untertanen durchsuchen, und was ihnen gefällt, sollen sie nehmen und wegtragen. |

Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief: for he sent unto me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not.
| 7 Entonces el rey de Israel llamó a todos los ancianos del país, y les dijo: Entended, y ved ahora cómo éste no busca sino mal; pues ha enviado a mí por mis mujeres y mis hijos, y por mi plata y por mi oro, y yo no se lo he negado. | 7 Da rief der König von Israel alle Ältesten des Landes zu sich und sprach: Merkt doch und seht, wie böse er's meint! Er hat zu mir gesandt um meine Frauen und Söhne, Silber und Gold, und ich hab ihm nichts verweigert. |

And all the elders and all the people said unto him, Hearken not unto him, nor consent.

Wherefore he said unto the messengers of Ben-hadad, Tell my lord the king, All that thou didst send for to thy servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.
| 9 Entonces él respondió a los embajadores de Ben-adad: Decid al rey mi señor: Haré todo lo que mandaste a tu siervo al principio; mas esto no lo puedo hacer. And Ben-hadad sent unto him, and said, The gods do so unto me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me.
| 10 Y Ben-adad nuevamente le envió a decir: Así me hagan los dioses, y aun me añadan, que el polvo de Samaria no bastará a los puños de todo el pueblo que me sigue. | 10 Da sandte Ben-Hadad zu ihm und ließ ihm sagen: Die Götter sollen mir dies und das tun, wenn der Staub Samarias genug sein sollte, die Hände der Leute zu füllen, die mit mir ziehen! |

And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his harness boast himself as he that putteth it off.
| 11 Y el rey de Israel respondió y dijo: Decidle que no se alabe tanto el que se ciñe las armas, como el que las desciñe. | 11 Aber der König von Israel antwortete: Sagt ihm: Wer den Harnisch anlegt, soll sich nicht rühmen wie der, der ihn abgelegt hat. |

And it came to pass, when Ben-hadad heard this message, as he was drinking, he and the kings in the pavilions, that he said unto his servants, Set yourselves in array. And they set themselves in array against the city.
| 12 Y cuando él oyó esta palabra, estando bebiendo con los reyes en las tiendas, dijo a sus siervos: Disponeos. Y ellos se dispusieron contra la ciudad. | 12 Als das Ben-Hadad hörte, der gerade mit den Königen in den Zelten trank, sprach er zu seinen Leuten: Greift an! Und sie griffen die Stadt an. |

And, behold, there came a prophet unto Ahab king of Israel, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Hast thou seen all this great multitude? behold, I will deliver it into thine hand this day; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
| 13 Y he aquí un profeta vino a Acab rey de Israel, y le dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: ¿Has visto esta gran multitud? He aquí yo te la entregaré hoy en tu mano, para que conozcas que yo soy Jehová. | 13 Und siehe, ein Prophet trat zu Ahab, dem König von Israel, und sprach: So spricht der HERR: Siehst du diese große Menge? Wahrlich, ich will sie heute in deine Hand geben, daß du wissen sollst: Ich bin der HERR. |

And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Even by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, Thou.
| 14 Y respondió Acab: ¿Por mano de quién? El dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Por mano de los siervos de los príncipes de las provincias. Y dijo Acab: ¿Quién comenzará la batalla? Then he numbered the young men of the princes of the provinces, and they were two hundred and thirty two: and after them he numbered all the people, even all the children of Israel, being seven thousand.
| 15 Entonces él pasó revista a los siervos de los príncipes de las provincias, los cuales fueron doscientos treinta y dos. Luego pasó revista a todo el pueblo, a todos los hijos de Israel, que fueron siete mil. | 15 Da zählte Ahab die Leute der Landvögte, und es waren zweihundertzweiunddreißig; und nach ihnen zählte er das ganze Volk Israel, und es waren siebentausend Mann. |

And they went out at noon. But Ben-hadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty and two kings that helped him.
| 16 Y salieron a mediodía. Y estaba Ben-adad bebiendo y embriagándose en las tiendas, él y los reyes, los treinta y dos reyes que habían venido en su ayuda. | 16 Und sie zogen aus am Mittag. Ben- Hadad aber trank und war trunken im Zeltlager samt den zweiunddreißig Königen, die ihm zu Hilfe gekommen waren. |

And the young men of the princes of the provinces went out first; and Ben-hadad sent out, and they told him, saying, There are men come out of Samaria.
| 17 Y los siervos de los príncipes de las provincias salieron los primeros. Y Ben-adad había enviado quien le dio aviso, diciendo: Han salido hombres de Samaria. | 17 Und die Leute der Landvögte zogen zuerst aus. Ben-Hadad aber hatte Leute ausgesandt; die brachten ihm Botschaft und sprachen: Es ziehen Männer aus Samaria heran. |

And he said, Whether they be come out for peace, take them alive; or whether they be come out for war, take them alive.
| 18 El entonces dijo: Si han salido por paz, tomadlos vivos; y si han salido para pelear, tomadlos vivos. | 18 Er sprach: Greift sie lebendig, ob sie nun zum Frieden oder zum Kampf ausgezogen sind! |

So these young men of the princes of the provinces came out of the city, and the army which followed them.
| 19 Salieron, pues, de la ciudad los siervos de los príncipes de las provincias, y en pos de ellos el ejército. | 19 Als aber die Leute der Landvögte aus der Stadt herausgezogen waren und das Heer ihnen nach, |

And they slew every one his man: and the Syrians fled; and Israel pursued them: and Ben-hadad the king of Syria escaped on an horse with the horsemen.
| 20 Y mató cada uno al que venía contra él; y huyeron los sirios, siguiéndoles los de Israel. Y el rey de Siria, Ben-adad, se escapó en un caballo con alguna gente de caballería. | 20 erschlug jeder den, der vor ihn kam. Und die Aramäer flohen, und Israel jagte ihnen nach. Aber Ben-Hadad, der König von Aram, entrann auf einem Roß, und Gespanne mit ihm. |

And the king of Israel went out, and smote the horses and chariots, and slew the Syrians with a great slaughter.
| 21 Y salió el rey de Israel, e hirió la gente de a caballo, y los carros, y deshizo a los sirios causándoles gran estrago. | 21 Und der König von Israel zog aus und schlug Roß und Wagen. So schlug er die Aramäer in einer großen Schlacht. |

And the prophet came to the king of Israel, and said unto him, Go, strengthen thyself, and mark, and see what thou doest: for at the return of the year the king of Syria will come up against thee.
| 22 Vino luego el profeta al rey de Israel y le dijo: Ve, fortalécete, y considera y mira lo que hagas; porque pasado un año, el rey de Siria vendrá contra ti. | 22 Da trat der Prophet zum König von Israel und sprach zu ihm: Wohlan, rüste dich und merke auf und sieh zu, was du tust! Denn der König von Aram wird gegen dich heraufziehen, wenn das Jahr um ist. |

And the servants of the king of Syria said unto him, Their gods are gods of the hills; therefore they were stronger than we; but let us fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they.
| 23 Y los siervos del rey de Siria le dijeron: Sus dioses son dioses de los montes, por eso nos han vencido; mas si peleáremos con ellos en la llanura, se verá si no los vencemos. | 23 Aber die Großen des Königs von Aram sprachen zu ihm: Ihre Götter sind Berggötter, darum haben sie uns überwunden. Aber wenn wir mit ihnen in der Ebene kämpfen könnten - was gilt's, wir wollten sie überwinden! |

And do this thing, Take the kings away, every man out of his place, and put captains in their rooms:
| 24 Haz, pues, así: Saca a los reyes cada uno de su puesto, y pon capitanes en lugar de ellos. | 24 Tu nun das: Setze die Könige alle ab und setze Statthalter an ihre Stelle |

And number thee an army, like the army that thou hast lost, horse for horse, and chariot for chariot: and we will fight against them in the plain, and surely we shall be stronger than they. And he hearkened unto their voice, and did so.
| 25 Y tú fórmate otro ejército como el ejército que perdiste, caballo por caballo, y carro por carro; luego pelearemos con ellos en campo raso, y veremos si no los vencemos. Y él les dio oído, y lo hizo así. | 25 und schaffe dir ein Heer, wie das Heer war, das du verloren hast, und ebensoviele Rosse und Wagen wie zuvor, und laß uns gegen sie kämpfen in der Ebene - was gilt's, wir werden sie überwinden! Er gehorchte ihrer Stimme und tat das. |

And it came to pass at the return of the year, that Ben-hadad numbered the Syrians, and went up to Aphek, to fight against Israel.
| 26 Pasado un año, Ben-adad pasó revista al ejército de los sirios, y vino a Afec para pelear contra Israel. | 26 Als nun das Jahr um war, bot Ben-Hadad die Aramäer auf und zog herauf nach Afek, um gegen Israel zu kämpfen. |

And the children of Israel were numbered, and were all present, and went against them: and the children of Israel pitched before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syrians filled the country.
| 27 Los hijos de Israel fueron también inspeccionados, y tomando provisiones fueron al encuentro de ellos; y acamparon los hijos de Israel delante de ellos como dos rebañuelos de cabras, y los sirios llenaban la tierra. | 27 Und Israel wurde auch aufgeboten, versorgte sich und zog hin ihnen entgegen und lagerte sich ihnen gegenüber wie zwei kleine Herden Ziegen. Von den Aramäern aber war das Land voll. |

And there came a man of God, and spake unto the king of Israel, and said, Thus saith the LORD, Because the Syrians have said, The LORD is God of the hills, but he is not God of the valleys, therefore will I deliver all this great multitude into thine hand, and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
| 28 Vino entonces el varón de Dios al rey de Israel, y le habló diciendo: Así dijo Jehová: Por cuanto los sirios han dicho: Jehová es Dios de los montes, y no Dios de los valles, yo entregaré toda esta gran multitud en tu mano, para que conozcáis que yo soy Jehová. | 28 Und es trat der Mann Gottes herzu und sprach zum König von Israel: So spricht der HERR: Weil die Aramäer gesagt haben, der HERR sei ein Gott der Berge und nicht ein Gott der Täler, so habe ich diese große Menge in deine Hand gegeben, damit ihr erkennt: Ich bin der HERR. |

And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day.
| 29 Siete días estuvieron acampados los unos frente a los otros, y al séptimo día se dio la batalla; y los hijos de Israel mataron de los sirios en un solo día cien mil hombres de a pie. | 29 Und sie lagen einander gegenüber sieben Tage. Am siebenten Tage zogen sie in den Kampf, und Israel schlug von den Aramäern hunderttausend Mann Fußvolk an einem Tag. |

But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; and there a wall fell upon twenty and seven thousand of the men that were left. And Ben-hadad fled, and came into the city, into an inner chamber.
| 30 Los demás huyeron a Afec, a la ciudad; y el muro cayó sobre veintisiete mil hombres que habían quedado. También Ben- adad vino huyendo a la ciudad, y se escondía de aposento en aposento. | 30 Und die übrigen flohen nach Afek in die Stadt, und die Mauer fiel auf die Übriggebliebenen, siebenundzwanzigtausend Mann. Und auch Ben-Hadad floh in die Stadt und verkroch sich von einer Kammer in die andere. |

And his servants said unto him, Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are merciful kings: let us, I pray thee, put sackcloth on our loins, and ropes upon our heads, and go out to the king of Israel: peradventure he will save thy life.
| 31 Entonces sus siervos le dijeron: He aquí, hemos oído de los reyes de la casa de Israel, que son reyes clementes; pongamos, pues, ahora cilicio en nuestros lomos, y sogas en nuestros cuellos, y salgamos al rey de Israel, a ver si por ventura te salva la vida. | 31 Da sprachen seine Großen zu ihm: Siehe, wir haben gehört, daß die Könige des Hauses Israel barmherzige Könige sind. So laßt uns Säcke um unsere Lenden tun und Stricke um unsere Köpfe und zum König von Israel hinausgehen; vielleicht läßt er dich am Leben. |

So they girded sackcloth on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Thy servant Ben-hadad saith, I pray thee, let me live. And he said, Is he yet alive? he is my brother.
| 32 Ciñeron, pues, sus lomos con cilicio, y sogas a sus cuellos, y vinieron al rey de Israel y le dijeron: Tu siervo Ben-adad dice: Te ruego que viva mi alma. Y él respondió: Si él vive aún, mi hermano es. | 32 Und sie gürteten Säcke um ihre Lenden und Stricke um ihre Köpfe und kamen zum König von Israel und sprachen: Dein Knecht Ben-Hadad läßt dir sagen: Laß mich doch am Leben! Er aber sprach: Lebt er noch? Er ist mein Bruder! |

Now the men did diligently observe whether any thing would come from him, and did hastily catch it: and they said, Thy brother Ben-hadad. Then he said, Go ye, bring him. Then Ben-hadad came forth to him; and he caused him to come up into the chariot.
| 33 Esto tomaron aquellos hombres por buen augurio, y se apresuraron a tomar la palabra de su boca, y dijeron: Tu hermano Ben-adad vive. Y él dijo: Id y traedle. Ben-adad entonces se presentó a Acab, y él le hizo subir en un carro. | 33 Und die Männer nahmen es als ein gutes Zeichen und sprachen: Ja, Ben- Hadad ist dein Bruder. Er sprach: Geht und bringt ihn! Da ging Ben-Hadad zu ihm heraus. Und Ahab ließ ihn auf den Wagen steigen. |

And Ben-hadad said unto him, The cities, which my father took from thy father, I will restore; and thou shalt make streets for thee in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria. Then said Ahab, I will send thee away with this covenant. So he made a covenant with him, and sent him away.
| 34 Y le dijo Ben-adad: Las ciudades que mi padre tomó al tuyo, yo las restituiré; y haz plazas en Damasco para ti, como mi padre las hizo en Samaria. Y yo, dijo Acab, te dejaré partir con este pacto. Hizo, pues, pacto con él, y le dejó ir. | 34 Und Ben-Hadad sprach zu ihm: Die Städte, die mein Vater deinem Vater genommen hat, will ich dir zurückgeben, und mache du dir Märkte in Damaskus, wie mein Vater in Samaria getan hat. Und Ahab sprach: Ich will dich auf diesen Bund hin ziehen lassen. Da schloß er mit ihm den Bund und ließ ihn ziehen. |

And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbour in the word of the LORD, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.
| 35 Entonces un varón de los hijos de los profetas dijo a su compañero por palabra de Dios: Hiéreme ahora. Mas el otro no quiso herirle. | 35 Da sprach ein Mann von den Prophetenjüngern zu seinem Nächsten auf des HERRN Gebot: Schlage mich! Er aber weigerte sich, ihn zu schlagen. |

Then said he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him.
| 36 El le dijo: Por cuanto no has obedecido a la palabra de Jehová, he aquí que cuando te apartes de mí, te herirá un león. Y cuando se apartó de él, le encontró un león, y le mató. | 36 Da sprach er zu ihm: Weil du der Stimme des HERRN nicht gehorcht hast, siehe, so wird dich ein Löwe schlagen, wenn du von mir gehst. Und als er von ihm ging, fand ihn ein Löwe und schlug ihn. |

Then he found another man, and said, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man smote him, so that in smiting he wounded him.
| 37 Luego se encontró con otro hombre, y le dijo: Hiéreme ahora. Y el hombre le dio un golpe, y le hizo una herida. | 37 Und der Prophet fand einen andern Mann und sprach: Schlage mich! Und der Mann schlug ihn wund. |

So the prophet departed, and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with ashes upon his face.
| 38 Y el profeta se fue, y se puso delante del rey en el camino, y se disfrazó, poniéndose una venda sobre los ojos. | 38 Da ging der Prophet hin, trat an den Weg, den der König zog, und verhüllte sein Angesicht mit einer Binde. |

And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.
| 39 Y cuando el rey pasaba, él dio voces al rey, y dijo: Tu siervo salió en medio de la batalla; y he aquí que se me acercó un soldado y me trajo un hombre, diciéndome: Guarda a este hombre, y si llegare a huir, tu vida será por la suya, o pagarás un talento de plata. | 39 Und als der König vorüberzog, rief er den König an und sprach: Dein Knecht war ausgezogen in die Schlacht. Und siehe, ein Mann trat zu mir und brachte mir einen und sprach: Bewache diesen Mann; wenn man ihn vermissen wird, so soll dein Leben für sein Leben einstehen, oder du sollst einen Zentner Silber zahlen. |

And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it.
| 40 Y mientras tu siervo estaba ocupado en una y en otra cosa, el hombre desapareció. Entonces el rey de Israel le dijo: Esa será tu sentencia; tú la has pronunciado. | 40 Und als dein Knecht hier und da zu tun hatte, war der Mann nicht mehr da. Der König von Israel sprach zu ihm: Das ist dein Urteil; du hast's selbst gefällt. |

And he hasted, and took the ashes away from his face; and the king of Israel discerned him that he was of the prophets.
| 41 Pero él se quitó de pronto la venda de sobre sus ojos, y el rey de Israel conoció que era de los profetas. | 41 Da tat er eilends die Binde von seinem Angesicht, und der König von Israel erkannte, daß er einer der Propheten war. |

And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Because thou hast let go out of thy hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his life, and thy people for his people.
| 42 Y él le dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Por cuanto soltaste de la mano el hombre de mi anatema, tu vida será por la suya, y tu pueblo por el suyo. | 42 Und er sprach zu ihm: So spricht der HERR: Weil du den Mann, auf dem mein Bann lag, von dir gelassen hast, so soll dein Leben für sein Leben einstehen und dein Volk für sein Volk. |

And the king of Israel went to his house heavy and displeased, and came to Samaria. | 43 Y el rey de Israel se fue a su casa triste y enojado, y llegó a Samaria. | 43 Aber der König von Israel zog heim, voller Unmut und zornig, und kam nach Samaria. |
