Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
| 3 y todo espíritu que no confiesa que Jesucristo ha venido en carne, no es de Dios; y este es el espíritu del anticristo, el cual vosotros habéis oído que viene, y que ahora ya está en el mundo. | 3 und ein jeder Geist, der Jesus nicht bekennt, der ist nicht von Gott. Und das ist der Geist des Antichrists, von dem ihr gehört habt, daß er kommen werde, und er ist jetzt schon in der Welt. |

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.

We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

En esto conocemos el espíritu de verdad y el espíritu de error. | 6 Wir sind von Gott, und wer Gott erkennt, der hört uns; wer nicht von Gott ist, der hört uns nicht. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
| 7 Amados, amémonos unos a otros; porque el amor es de Dios. Todo aquel que ama, es nacido de Dios, y conoce a Dios. | 7 Ihr Lieben, laßt uns einander lieb haben; denn die Liebe ist von Gott, und wer liebt, der ist von Gott geboren und kennt Gott. |

He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
| 8 El que no ama, no ha conocido a Dios; porque Dios es amor. | 8 Wer nicht liebt, der kennt Gott nicht; denn Gott ist die Liebe. |

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
| 9 En esto se mostró el amor de Dios para con nosotros, en que Dios envió a su Hijo unigénito al mundo, para que vivamos por él. | 9 Darin ist erschienen die Liebe Gottes unter uns, daß Gott seinen eingebornen Sohn gesandt hat in die Welt, damit wir durch ihn leben sollen. |

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
| 10 En esto consiste el amor: no en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que él nos amó a nosotros, y envió a su Hijo en propiciación por nuestros pecados. | 10 Darin besteht die Liebe: nicht, daß wir Gott geliebt haben, sondern daß er uns geliebt hat und gesandt seinen Sohn zur Versöhnung für unsre Sünden. |

Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
| 11 Amados, si Dios nos ha amado así, debemos también nosotros amarnos unos a otros. | 11 Ihr Lieben, hat uns Gott so geliebt, so sollen wir uns auch untereinander lieben. |

No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
| 12 Nadie ha visto jamás a Dios. Si nos amamos unos a otros, Dios permanece en nosotros, y su amor se ha perfeccionado en nosotros. | 12 Niemand hat Gott jemals gesehen. Wenn wir uns untereinander lieben, so bleibt Gott in uns, und seine Liebe ist in uns vollkommen. |

Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
| 13 En esto conocemos que permanecemos en él, y él en nosotros, en que nos ha dado de su Espíritu. | 13 Daran erkennen wir, daß wir in ihm bleiben und er in uns, daß er uns von seinem Geist gegeben hat. |

And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
| 14 Y nosotros hemos visto y testificamos que el Padre ha enviado al Hijo, el Salvador del mundo. | 14 Und wir haben gesehen und bezeugen, daß der Vater den Sohn gesandt hat als Heiland der Welt. |

Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
| 15 Todo aquel que confiese que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, Dios permanece en él, y él en Dios. | 15 Wer nun bekennt, daß Jesus Gottes Sohn ist, in dem bleibt Gott und er in Gott. |

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
| 16 Y nosotros hemos conocido y creído el amor que Dios tiene para con nosotros. Dios es amor; y el que permanece en amor, permanece en Dios, y Dios en él. | 16 Und wir haben erkannt und geglaubt die Liebe, die Gott zu uns hat. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
| 17 En esto se ha perfeccionado el amor en nosotros, para que tengamos confianza en el día del juicio; pues como él es, así somos nosotros en este mundo. | 17 Darin ist die Liebe bei uns vollkommen, daß wir Zuversicht haben am Tag des Gerichts; denn wie er ist, so sind auch wir in dieser Welt. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
| 18 En el amor no hay temor, sino que el perfecto amor echa fuera el temor; porque el temor lleva en sí castigo. De donde el que teme, no ha sido perfeccionado en el amor. | 18 sondern die vollkommene Liebe treibt die Furcht aus; denn die Furcht rechnet mit Strafe. Wer sich aber fürchtet, der ist nicht vollkommen in der Liebe. |

We love him, because he first loved us.

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
| 20 Si alguno dice: Yo amo a Dios, y aborrece a su hermano, es mentiroso. Pues el que no ama a su hermano a quien ha visto, żcómo puede amar a Dios a quien no ha visto? | 20 Wenn jemand spricht: Ich liebe Gott, und haßt seinen Bruder, der ist ein Lügner. Denn wer seinen Bruder nicht liebt, den er sieht, wie kann er Gott lieben, den er nicht sieht? |

And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. | 21 Y nosotros tenemos este mandamiento de él: El que ama a Dios, ame también a su hermano. | 21 Und dies Gebot haben wir von ihm, daß, wer Gott liebt, daß der auch seinen Bruder liebe. |
