My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
| 1 Hijitos míos, estas cosas os escribo para que no pequéis; y si alguno hubiere pecado, abogado tenemos para con el Padre, a Jesucristo el justo. | 1 Meine Kinder, dies schreibe ich euch, damit ihr nicht sündigt. Und wenn jemand sündigt, so haben wir einen Fürsprecher bei dem Vater, Jesus Christus, der gerecht ist. |

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
| 2 Y él es la propiciación por nuestros pecados; y no solamente por los nuestros, sino también por los de todo el mundo. | 2 Und er ist die Versöhnung für unsre Sünden, nicht allein aber für die unseren, sondern auch für die der ganzen Welt. |

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
| 3 Y en esto sabemos que nosotros le conocemos, si guardamos sus mandamientos. | 3 Und daran merken wir, daß wir ihn kennen, wenn wir seine Gebote halten. |

He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
| 4 El que dice: Yo le conozco, y no guarda sus mandamientos, el tal es mentiroso, y la verdad no está en él; | 4 Wer sagt: Ich kenne ihn, und hält seine Gebote nicht, der ist ein Lügner, und in dem ist die Wahrheit nicht. |

But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
| 5 pero el que guarda su palabra, en éste verdaderamente el amor de Dios se ha perfeccionado; por esto sabemos que estamos en él. | 5 Wer aber sein Wort hält, in dem ist wahrlich die Liebe Gottes vollkommen. Daran erkennen wir, daß wir in ihm sind. |

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
| 6 El que dice que permanece en él, debe andar como él anduvo. | 6 Wer sagt, daß er in ihm bleibt, der soll auch leben, wie er gelebt hat. |

Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
| 7 Hermanos, no os escribo mandamiento nuevo, sino el mandamiento antiguo que habéis tenido desde el principio; este mandamiento antiguo es la palabra que habéis oído desde el principio. | 7 Meine Lieben, ich schreibe euch nicht ein neues Gebot, sondern das alte Gebot, das ihr von Anfang an gehabt habt. Das alte Gebot ist das Wort, das ihr gehört habt. |

Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
| 8 Sin embargo, os escribo un mandamiento nuevo, que es verdadero en él y en vosotros, porque las tinieblas van pasando, y la luz verdadera ya alumbra. | 8 Und doch schreibe ich euch ein neues Gebot, das wahr ist in ihm und in euch; denn die Finsternis vergeht, und das wahre Licht scheint jetzt. |

He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
| 9 El que dice que está en la luz, y aborrece a su hermano, está todavía en tinieblas. | 9 Wer sagt, er sei im Licht, und haßt seinen Bruder, der ist noch in der Finsternis. |

He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
| 10 El que ama a su hermano, permanece en la luz, y en él no hay tropiezo. | 10 Wer seinen Bruder liebt, der bleibt im Licht, und durch ihn kommt niemand zu Fall. |

But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
| 11 Pero el que aborrece a su hermano está en tinieblas, y anda en tinieblas, y no sabe a dónde va, porque las tinieblas le han cegado los ojos. | 11 Wer aber seinen Bruder haßt, der ist in der Finsternis und wandelt in der Finsternis und weiß nicht, wo er hingeht; denn die Finsternis hat seine Augen verblendet. |

I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.
| 12 Os escribo a vosotros, hijitos, porque vuestros pecados os han sido perdonados por su nombre. | 12 Liebe Kinder, ich schreibe euch, daß euch die Sünden vergeben sind um seines Namens willen. |

I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
| 13 Os escribo a vosotros, padres, porque conocéis al que es desde el principio. Os escribo a vosotros, jóvenes, porque habéis vencido al maligno. Os escribo a vosotros, hijitos, porque habéis conocido al Padre. | 13 Ich schreibe euch Vätern; denn ihr kennt den, der von Anfang an ist. Ich schreibe euch jungen Männern; denn ihr habt den Bösen überwunden. |

I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
| 14 Os he escrito a vosotros, padres, porque habéis conocido al que es desde el principio. Os he escrito a vosotros, jóvenes, porque sois fuertes, y la palabra de Dios permanece en vosotros, y habéis vencido al maligno. | 14 Ich habe euch Kindern geschrieben; denn ihr kennt den Vater. Ich habe euch Vätern geschrieben; denn ihr kennt den, der von Anfang an ist. Ich habe euch jungen Männern geschrieben; denn ihr seid stark, und das Wort Gottes bleibt in euch, und ihr habt den Bösen überwunden. |

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
| 15 No améis al mundo, ni las cosas que están en el mundo. Si alguno ama al mundo, el amor del Padre no está en él. | 15 Habt nicht lieb die Welt noch was in der Welt ist. Wenn jemand die Welt lieb hat, in dem ist nicht die Liebe des Vaters. |

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
| 16 Porque todo lo que hay en el mundo, los deseos de la carne, los deseos de los ojos, y la vanagloria de la vida, no proviene del Padre, sino del mundo. | 16 Denn alles, was in der Welt ist, des Fleisches Lust und der Augen Lust und hoffärtiges Leben, ist nicht vom Vater, sondern von der Welt. |

And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
| 17 Y el mundo pasa, y sus deseos; pero el que hace la voluntad de Dios permanece para siempre. | 17 Und die Welt vergeht mit ihrer Lust; wer aber den Willen Gottes tut, der bleibt in Ewigkeit. |

Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
| 18 Hijitos, ya es el último tiempo; y según vosotros oísteis que el anticristo viene, así ahora han surgido muchos anticristos; por esto conocemos que es el último tiempo. | 18 Kinder, es ist die letzte Stunde! Und wie ihr gehört habt, daß der Antichrist kommt, so sind nun schon viele Antichristen gekommen; daran erkennen wir, daß es die letzte Stunde ist. |

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
| 19 Salieron de nosotros, pero no eran de nosotros; porque si hubiesen sido de nosotros, habrían permanecido con nosotros; pero salieron para que se manifestase que no todos son de nosotros. | 19 Sie sind von uns ausgegangen, aber sie waren nicht von uns. Denn wenn sie von uns gewesen wären, so wären sie ja bei uns geblieben; aber es sollte offenbar werden, daß sie nicht alle von uns sind. |

But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
| 20 Pero vosotros tenéis la unción del Santo, y conocéis todas las cosas. | 20 Doch ihr habt die Salbung von dem, der heilig ist, und habt alle das Wissen. |

I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
| 21 No os he escrito como si ignoraseis la verdad, sino porque la conocéis, y porque ninguna mentira procede de la verdad. | 21 Ich habe euch nicht geschrieben, als wüßtet ihr die Wahrheit nicht, sondern ihr wißt sie und wißt, daß keine Lüge aus der Wahrheit kommt. |

Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
| 22 ¿Quién es el mentiroso, sino el que niega que Jesús es el Cristo? Este es anticristo, el que niega al Padre y al Hijo. | 22 Wer ist ein Lügner, wenn nicht der, der leugnet, daß Jesus der Christus ist? Das ist der Antichrist, der den Vater und den Sohn leugnet. |

Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
| 23 Todo aquel que niega al Hijo, tampoco tiene al Padre. El que confiesa al Hijo, tiene también al Padre. | 23 Wer den Sohn leugnet, der hat auch den Vater nicht; wer den Sohn bekennt, der hat auch den Vater. |

Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
| 24 Lo que habéis oído desde el principio, permanezca en vosotros. Si lo que habéis oído desde el principio permanece en vosotros, también vosotros permaneceréis en el Hijo y en el Padre. | 24 Was ihr gehört habt von Anfang an, das bleibe in euch. Wenn in euch bleibt, was ihr von Anfang an gehört habt, so werdet ihr auch im Sohn und im Vater bleiben. |

And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
| 25 Y esta es la promesa que él nos hizo, la vida eterna. | 25 Und das ist die Verheißung, die er uns verheißen hat: das ewige Leben. |

These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
| 26 Os he escrito esto sobre los que os engañan. | 26 Dies habe ich euch geschrieben von denen, die euch verführen. |

But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
| 27 Pero la unción que vosotros recibisteis de él permanece en vosotros, y no tenéis necesidad de que nadie os enseñe; así como la unción misma os enseña todas las cosas, y es verdadera, y no es mentira, según ella os ha enseñado, permaneced en él. | 27 Und die Salbung, die ihr von ihm empfangen habt, bleibt in euch, und ihr habt nicht nötig, daß euch jemand lehrt; sondern, wie euch seine Salbung alles lehrt, so ist's wahr und ist keine Lüge, und wie sie euch gelehrt hat, so bleibt in ihm. |

And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
| 28 Y ahora, hijitos, permaneced en él, para que cuando se manifieste, tengamos confianza, para que en su venida no nos alejemos de él avergonzados. | 28 Und nun, Kinder, bleibt in ihm, damit wir, wenn er offenbart wird, Zuversicht haben und nicht zuschanden werden vor ihm, wenn er kommt. |

If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him. | 29 Si sabéis que él es justo, sabed también que todo el que hace justicia es nacido de él. | 29 Wenn ihr wißt, daß er gerecht ist, so erkennt ihr auch, daß, wer recht tut, der ist von ihm geboren. |
